Timeline cleanse - grapes from the garden version. Planted three grapevines (eating, not wine) during the pandemic and we have a bumper crop this year with virtually no effort. The green variety is ready, the two purple varieties are ripening nicely. Giving lots away & eating what we can.
Camping. South coast and Eel Lake, Oregon.
Blueberry pie for breakfast because why not?
End This Stupid War. Seen in D.C. last week.
Late spring hike in Forest Park with some good dogs.
Peonies from the yard are pretty glorious right now. They must be hardy because I do absolutely nothing to help them but still they bloom every year.
Not a lot going on there that I’ve seen yet. I’ve only seen the ducklings (see below!) but they may be hiding when I’ve gone by or not yet awake. I’m excited for the grebe eggs to hatch - they’re so fun to watch!
Local heron hanging out, pictured from my morning run:
Timeline cleanse: garden flowers. Peonies are low maintenance and make gorgeous flowers every spring. Nothing in our yard that survives from year to year is high maintenance. These have been going strong since 2020.
It’s duckling season in Oregon. These mallards are so cuuuuute. Commonwealth Lake, Beaverton.
Timeline cleanse: spring walk with the dogs
Exercising our First Amendment rights.
Timeline cleanse from a recent trip to Albuquerque, NM
Earlier this afternoon/evening at the Ice Out of Portland March. Kids got teargassed here yesterday and it was great to see the Portland community show up and present a united front for immigrants and families. “Revoke the Permit” City!
Don’t cross the line! Be like these ducks staying away from the path in solidarity with striking SBX workers.
That book lives on my office shelf! It’s a great read.
We still have dogs and the right to protest. That is something to celebrate.
Nature is a balm. From a 16-mile loop trail run with Marion and three other lakes, Minto pass, and some side trails this Sunday. Part of Mt. Jefferson wilderness area. An older burn is still really prevalent and made for some exposed, hot running. Feeling the sore muscles today.
Timeline cleanse: Mt. Hood wilderness area last weekend. There for a trail race and hiking with my dog and friends.
Timeline cleanse: Eugene, Oregon, Willamette River, river path, wild turkeys in the city.
Timeline cleanse: Forest Park edition with the four-legged buddies on a gorgeous morning in Portland, Oregon.
Extremely glad I got a 10-mile rainy trail run in this morning before all this new terrible war news. Hiking, running and just being outside is a major help with stress management.
Enjoy some teeny ducklings I spotted with the dogs (kept far back and leashed) this morning at Commonwealth Lake, a neighborhood treasure for people and birds. Today is hard, but there are still ducks.
Portland, Oregon turned out for No Kings. The streets were full, peaceful, and the parade of marchers was extremely long. Everyone (but kings and authoritarians) are welcome here! Love the community in Portland.
Apparently we were at the same Chicago community event!
