Black candidates have won zero statewide
elections in Alabama since 1994 (when one Black person was elected after a
previous appointment to office), and only three Black candidates have ever been
elected to statewide office since Reconstruction. Black candidates have enjoyed
near-zero success in legislative elections outside of opportunity districts: thirty-two
of the thirty-three Black members of the 140-person Legislature represent majorityBlack districts. We found substantial evidence that Black Alabamians have less
opportunity than other Alabamians to elect representatives of their choice.

John Cornyn is a good man, and I worked well with him, but he was not supportive of me when times were tough and, despite having the Most Successful Economy in the History of our Country during my First Term and, with all of the many other things that I accomplished (Secure Border, Military Dominance, Space Force, All Time High Stock Markets and 401(k)s, Record Job and Economic Growth, and so many other things that would be impossible to readily list!), which are considered by many to be legendary, John was very late in backing me in what turned out to be a Historic Run for the Republican Nomination, and then, the Presidency, itself, both of which were Landslide Victories and, more importantly, gave us the Country that we have today — THE GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICA (and when we finish up with Iran, which will not be allowed to have a Nuclear Weapon, you will see numbers that have never been generated by our Country before!), as opposed to the DISASTER of the previous Administration.

diminish the serious nature of the criminal acts that occurred. But the acts of
violence catalogued in the record—heavily emphasized by the majority’s order and
the concurrence—do not reflect the day-to-day reality of the protests, particularly

Scoop: The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists will no longer accept federal funding, citing changes in funding laws and regulations under the Trump admin. This will have knock-on effects, including on programs meant to improve maternal health. Statement to TPM:

After careful deliberation, ACOG has made an organization-wide decision to stop accepting federal funding for all ACOG programs and activities for current contracts.  Recent changes in federal funding laws and regulations significantly impact ACOG’s program goals, policy positions, and ability to provide timely and evidence-based guidance and recommendations for care.

We remain fully committed to this critical work and will allocate our own resources to continue it in a way that is centered on patient needs and grounded in evidence. As we develop the details of this path forward, we will share more information with our valued members and partners.

ACOG is proud of the work we’ve done in partnership with the federal government over the years and intends to continue to improve public health outcomes through our work going forward.  We will continue to engage with the federal government through member advocacy, by providing comments to rulemaking, and ensuring that the voice of ob-gyns is heard by decisionmakers. And we will evaluate opportunities to partner with the government in the future where our program goals align.

We remain committed to reducing preventable maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity within the United States, to ensuring the quality and safety of patient care that will improve population health outcomes, to increasing access to preventive care, and more. We look forward to building on our successful work to date by shaping future programs that advance health for all.
