Saw my schedule for next semester/year. It's rough: no breaks available so far for anyone, everyone stretched thin. I have a 1:1 for half the day, and my lunch is near the end of the day. Again, no break. This will be the opposite of last year, unless we can get viable hires.
It's raining and stormy, so my abs have been crunching like crazy, and are now sore. Maybe I'll get a nice six-pack out of this, lol. Also feeling draggy because the humidity made it hard to sleep; the one time I'd dozed, a clap of thunder woke me right up. So rude.
Yep. Self-deception for ego protection. (I've always been a hater myself, but I'm a nearly-50 hyperlexic compulsive reader & sometimes-contrarian who inhaled a *lot* of middle-grade magical boarding school fantasy growing up, so I found book 1 one derivative and meh; didn't read further.)
Part of code-switching; I do it all the time. My father was Texan, my mother British-Canadian, they met on the Gulf Coast, and I grew up in the western US, so my accent definitely shifts w/the situation. Also, listen to anyone go from one language to another--voice & accent both may change.
I moved to SoCal as a kid in the mid-80s after being born in an OR wine valley. Great to grow up on the leading edge of a dining revolution. V. tasty.
Oh, yeah. That's the stuff. (I'm in my last year of 'em. It's been... something.)
