Just finished watching the final part of the beautiful Heartstopper series with my girls and it was everything we'd all hoped for. What a gift to young people to be able to grow up with such warm, affirming stories, especially right now. Loved the books, loved the show, loved it all #Heartstopper

A week staying in Sydney around the corner from Kinokinuya was deadly with kids that want to visit the book shop every day (we don't have a book shop within 130km normally). Can't say I'm upset with the outcome though... Just need more reading hours in the day! #booksky 📚💙

This just sums it up so well. They don't want disabled people to live full lives or be part of the world, because to want that would be to acknowledge that it doesn't come easily or free and that makes people feel bad. Better to force disabled families back into hiding to suffer silently.

The audacity of the suggestion that parents of disabled kids are just trying to shirk parental responsibilities makes me incandescent. The additional load that comes with caring for a disabled child is unquantifiable and we do it with love. NDIS *adds* to the load more than reduces it!

I'm excited for the next part of my cross stitch pattern to be released (it's a progressive stitch-a-long and a new part gets emailed every 3 weeks) because I'm loving how bright and cheerful it is and the process makes me really happy

My eldest requested crepes for breakfast this morning and I have never made crepes but I gave it a whirl and voila! The world is terrible and everything sucks but we had delicious crepes rolled up with sugar and fresh lemon juice and that's pretty cool. Recipe by Nagi bc she truly never misses.

I finally worked up the courage to put ink in my 'new' vintage Esterbrook fountain pen and I am genuinely stunned by how smooth and lovely it feels to write with given it is at least 65 odd years old. The lever fill was a bit scary but I survived. Feels like a great nerd moment. ✒️

The inks I went with today were Waterman Tender Purple (my fave purely for the Virginia Woolf connection), Van Dieman's Autumn Morning (shimmer), Diplomat Orchid, Robert Oster Citrus, Diamine Tulip and Diamine Cornflour. Always have a Diamine Oxblood, Lamy Obsidian and Pilot Kon-Peki inked as well.

New ink day! I love filling my fountain pens with fresh colours way too much - feels like adding a little whimsy to my day is the best kind of self care at the moment. Pretty happy with my choices (see next post).

I love everything Colm Toibin writes, but I have to say this was an excellent choice over the weekend while it was 43 degrees - he captured the icy cold particularly well.
