So what exactly is the goal over in Texas schools: Basic biblicaly literacy? Evangelization? Literary appreciation? I don't think it really ticks any of those boxes well.

It's not the content or quality! (Though I was going to make a joke about you mispronouncing 'eschew' but it turns out that I also say it wrong, although in a different way as both fall into the "sometimes proscribed" category.)
I am in no way against inclusive language, and I don't know Hebrew, but for iBreviary to revise the translation of Psalm 92 from "foolish man" to "stupid" seems a bit harsh. The English language is so versatile, I refuse to believe this is the best we can do.
Tropical Storm Arthur fried our light system. We have no control over the spotlights. Most of them are off, but there's one that's on (and can't be turned off). It will make for a slightly dim celebration of Mass in the morning, but at night, it looks pretty cool.
Thinking tonight about this forgotten gem of the Glory and Praise era. "And let our Host at table be adored," is a perfect lyric.
