visited leiden observatory, the relative sizes of the logbooks of 1941-44 are... stark

a large wall/bookcase of many thick plain white books, each labeled with a year (most in the image are around the early 1900s)

the books for 1939-1948. 1941 and 1942 are quite thin in comparison to 1940 or 1946, and 1943-1944 have been merged into a single, tiny book. 1945 begins to get bigger again but is still fairly small.
