Recently discovered the Game Boy Color aquarium sim AquaLife and I am obsessed with its cute spritework and color palette. Lookit those lil GBC fishies!! (All images taken from The Spriters Resource.)
New profile pic from my friend @cargodin.bsky.social! LOOKIT THIS HANDSOME LIL MAN!!
Japan always gets the best cover art. Also, if you've never played these games or have avoided them because of the terrible Petz branded box art: They are *not* the kinds of games you likely think they are.
Playing Tail Concerto (emulating because I refuse to spend $500 to $1,000 for a physical copy) and I love how completely non-threatening everyone is, from the heroes to the villains. Like, this is what counts as "vandalism" in this world:
Just heard the news and immediately ran to the nearest FuncoLand to buy Myst and Riven for the PlayStation. It's about time these two masterpieces arrived on consoles!
I don't think any fake ad will ever top Silent Hill 3's MINMO for me. There's just something about it that tickles me.
One of my favorite sensible chuckles is "Toad the Wet Sprocket" which was originally made up as a joke by Eric Idle for a Monty Python sketch and was later adopted by an actual band as a joke. Metal band names are also in a league of their own: metalgigs.us/the-longest-...
Let this be a reminder to my fellow gamedevs that no matter how well your game is received, there will always be that one bozo who doesn't get it.
Also... Liru, my beloved. This dumb four-eared bimbo caused so many awakenings it was legendary. I'm fairly certain she was the sole reason why anyone even bothered to watch Magipoka. Always loved those big stompy Mega Man boots.
It's funny revisiting Magipoka some 20 years later and coming to the realization that all of these character designs would have just been VTubers in the modern era.
This is my favorite chapter cover in Dragon Half. The art itself is really cute but I also love the juxtaposition between the chapter title dramatically reading "THE DEADLY METAL GOLEM OF HORROR!" paired with the completely unrelated image of Mink looking cute as fuck riding some big rabbit thing.
I think the entire Steam Community needs to be nuked from orbit at this point, honestly.
Dragon Half is something I am Extremely Normal™ about. God this series needs a renaissance.
New game from the developers of Astalon is out today! Mita Ryūsuke returns with more character designs, and this time these crazy bastards were able to get permission to sneak a Mink cameo in there. Please let this be one small step towards getting a new Dragon Half game. PLEASE I WOULD DO ANYTHING.
I have two copies of the official strategy guide if you need one. (It's also available on the Internet Archive: archive.org/details/offi... and is incredibly dorky/quaint in the way that all 90's strategy guides were.)
Oh dang, you made a Silhouette Mirage keychain at one point? Mad at myself for missing out on it. What did it look like? Big fan of your merch. Looking forward to whatever you do next!
Inbelievable! Unconceivable! But it didn't matter. AntiBubzia on the other world was doing the precisely exact same thing backwards to cancel out Bubzia's completed run every freaking time.
lmao at her final social post. This was probably about an hour before she decided to end it all.
Starting off new year great! My Tamagotchi died tonight because I left her with the in-game sitter this morning and forgot to pick her up before 6 PM. Three hours later and I guess that was enough to make her kill herself.
I was refreshing my memory on the various Rockman X Carddass series because I remembered them being utterly bonkers nonsense (complimentary) and I had somehow forgotten there was a villain duo named "Confuse A Stoner".
They've posted this only on the dead bird site, but I really love this SOUP room created by @submarichamomi.bsky.social! Beautiful detailed art and color palette, and nice use of the camera angle to make an evocative screenshot!
Also I dunno who uploaded SOUP ROOMS to IGDB/Backloggd but I really like this little poster they made for it. Wish I could hang it on my wall.
I haven't made a single penny off of indie game development, but I'll occasionally stumble across some really kind words that still make it feel like it was all worth it.
Yeah, of course. Itch.io is your best bet for uploading, I think. We made a post about it in the comments section for Bapalon that goes into more detail.
You pilot this little egg mech that can retract its limbs and spin around really fast. You can also disembark and walk around on foot to talk with people and access indoor areas. Boss battles shift into 3D without losing *any* of the gamefeel (which is quite an incredible feat, honestly).
