Three wildfires continue to burn out of control in and around Spokane. The largest blaze is the Old Trails Fire. It crossed the Spokane River this weekend and is responsible for burning about 700 homes and structures.
After the deadly shooting at Bite of Seattle left three people dead and multiple wounded, community members returned to Seattle Center to mourn.
Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes has resigned. In a statement, Barnes said “I hope this transition gives the city and this department the opportunity to return full focus to what matters most, addressing youth gun violence and preventing more tragedies.”
People gathered at the International Fountain Wednesday for a silent vigil honoring the victims of the Seattle Center shooting. Seattle Center organized the event and attendees left notes and flowers. Even though it was only a few days after three people were killed, the park felt peaceful.
Seattle's sixth and final World Cup match brought a daily record of 309,000 boardings on Sound Transit. That's when the U.S. played Belgium at Lumen Field. 🚋 Monday's number topped the previous mark of 297,000 riders on June 19, when the U.S. played Australia.

Anders Ibsen was sworn in as Tacoma's new mayor Tuesday night. Ibsen is a former deputy mayor and a former City Council member. He says he will focus on delivering measurable results, strengthening city services and improving day-to-day conditions for Tacoma residents.
