A plethora of tunics. Tunicae? Or maybe they're gambesons, really, what do I know... Color tintable and super snug, time to hammer out a few more skin variants!
It has been ten thousand years, but now the Noatun Nevrean is completed - despite everything - and I am incredibly excited to share these adorable avid avians with all of you! They will be released for SL at Abnormality, Aug 7th. VRC port coming very soon, as well!
Some friends asked - my workflow for shading is pretty basic, there's no trick to it. I do a super crude AO bake from the lowpoly onto the lowpoly, and then I just start painting. It'd be better to have a sculpt, but I like painting. Hair is still a WIP, but it'll get there!
Upscaling my old Kobold models - subdivs and creases and a lot of poly wrangling without messing with UV's!
Ended up having to iterate a bit more than I had expected to on these chicken UV's. I would have liked to carve up the fluff more, but I know a lot of you want to paint directly on the UV's in Photoshop, so that becomes a big factor for me to keep in mind!
Hair is down to 8k triangles - I will try to shave it down to 5k tomorrow. With some cleanup, I'm hoping to have the entire avatar at sub 40k, but I'm not sure how realistic this will be - the hands alone are at 8k.
Low(er) poly hair blockout. Pretty happy with the silhouettes, but the nape needs some work
Only hair, cheeks, and maw internals now, and then there's just... everything else left to do!
I feel this way of doing fluff really clicked for me! Although it's more work, once I'm done welding the neck feathers and detailing the crotch, I really want to go back to the back of the legs and tail and redo them with this new workflow, they look blobby by comparison now. :(
I ran out of space on the front, but it'll have company soon! I will cherish borzoi forever
