BUFFET INFINITY has the sauce. I’ve seen chatter around here singing its praises, but frankly I think folks are underselling the unique blend of absurd humor and cosmic horror. Drops on Shudder soon, but it’s worth the money to rent, too. Go in as blind as possible.
I don't know if I'd be pushing merchandise for a coaster that still doesn't have an opening date and is being retroactively removed from Horror Nights ticketing options, but that's just me!
What in the world is this tagline? I’m pretty sure Ebenezer was *always* Scrooge. There’s no before/after. It’s his literal last name!
All that said, though? If you can game the system and navigate the queues effectively, Tokyo DisneySea is exceptional. Every environment is immaculate. Every ride is very good to outstanding. It is a miraculous place. If you love this form and have the means, you owe it to yourself to go.
DisneySea, while easily one of the top 3 theme parks in the world, is not without major problems. The biggest is its layout, which is awkward, cumbersome, unintuitive, & plagued with choke points. One must generally pass through the relatively narrow caverns of Mysterious Island to cross the park.
Whenever we encountered a clearly overwhelmed Western group, we recommended the spectacular Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage, DisneySea’s one major attraction that never generates queues more than 20 minutes. Not a single group had heard of it. It became my mission to spread the good word of Chandu.
We are staying at the MiraCosta. Harbor view. Dream come true. Every deluxe Disney resort should be this opulent and boast such attentive service
Tokyo Disneyland has some rough edges, clunky transitions, and dated elements… but their Critter Country is unmatched. Shockingly intricate and multilayered. In awe.
Rapid fire Tokyo Disney Resort thoughts incoming — first day at Disneyland First: there are SO many characters, always out, everywhere?? And so many are rare, secondary, or even tertiary characters that would require a hard ticket upcharge in the states?
PRIMATE rips (off faces) -- a lean, old school, meat-and-potatoes creature feature done right. Director Johannes Roberts is also behind 47 METERS DOWN and its criminally underrated/unhinged UNCAGED sequel. In a just world, he should be given the $$ to make any "nature gone wild" flick he wants.
I think it's a good idea for kids to be taught how to write by hand, even and especially in a digital age
Oh no, the REBECCA musical stage adaptation is being remounted in Tokyo the very week we're visiting as part of our honeymoon. I am going to have to move heaven and earth to secure tickets.
Tonight’s feature: BODY OF EVIDENCE. Streamed on Criterion Channel. Remember when erotic thrillers looked like movies? Lush lighting to die for. Sexual taboos dragged kicking and screaming into the harsh light of a courtroom. Willem Dafoe and Madonna don’t hold back. Recommended.
Tomorrow, we embark on another adventure in moviemaking. The scrappiest kind: little to no budget, a few actors, a camera, & a dream. I can't help but be moved by my collaborators who believe so much in this film & my ability to deliver something exciting & meaningful. Let's make the dream real.

You guys… I have an update. 11 months later, Universal Home Entertainment has acknowledged the error, fixed it for the forthcoming 4K disc re-release, and is sending me an updated copy! Good things can happen!!

Between a one free general admission ticket and a 50%-off-any-ticket coupon -- both from Midsummer Scream -- I paid $33 for two tickets to the LA Haunted Hayride this evening. Reader, I was prompted to spend more money for perks and add-ons *five times* before I was permitted to actually check out.
In fact, if you dig deeper into their FAQ, you'll find they go out of their way to avoid giving you a direct answer about the length of the play. They keep emphasizing that you'll want to spend time in the "improved lounge experience."
The DELUSION website advises that you should allocate two hours to enjoy the themed bar ("themed" is generous) and the show itself. I would argue this language is meant to obscure the obscenely short length of the actual performance.

Revisited XANADU on Kino Lorber's fabulous new 4K disc release. The film itself is a mixed bag, but it also gifts us several bold, bonkers, and transcendent musical sequences that have never looked or sounded better. Gene Kelly's metatextual final film performance is a wonder and fitting sendoff.
