Finished Democracy Awakens. It’s informative, motivating, and worthy of a re-read. Still in the middle of a couple other texts too, and started this memoir this afternoon. I’ve been meaning to read Lawson for some time, and I adore life writing. #amreading #booksky
I might be one of the few people I know who share my Babbel and Duolingo streaks on social media, but I find it motivating. Thirty days on Duolingo, 7 days on babel. I want to branch out into other languages, but Spanish is the current focus. There is something satisfying about language learning.
I use Babbel and Duolingo. I’m also trying to watch more Spanish language movies. My parents even bought me a Spanish language birthday card this year and wrote a Spanish message inside.
This one was my favorite. It was true to its title: reading it (which I did multiple times) always felt magical.
Point: Before and after pics suck. They imply that a fat body is a malady to surmount. They are harmful. Counterpoint: It’s fun to lose weight and show it off. Synthesis: Both are true, but tonight I’m taking the low road. My health was bad and this culture is vicious. Things are easier now.
Odyssey viewing with the parents + Michael. My favorite performances in the film came from Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson, but I also loved Samantha Morton as Circe, and the whole film was pretty badass.
A superb stand-up special from a comedic genius (Taylor Tomlinson is just that good), a Spanish-language horror classic, and two iconic 90s films I’d never seen, both of which I could relate to in some ways. A most satisfying #lastfourwatched. Happy #LetterboxdFriday. Seeing The Odyssey today!

Was just staring at this book on my shelf, wanting to read it cover to cover, when it occurred to me that I can just do it—just sit down and start. I loved the required reading in my PhD program, but being on the other side & reading whatever I want feels amazing. I’m unencumbered! #amreading
Read this quote for the first time about a year ago. It’s now a favorite. Erdrich is a beautiful writer, and reading more of her books is on the to-do list.
Had The Fratellis (Costello Music) in my head all day, but they played a track from Rilo Kiley’s “Under the Blacklight” in Supergirl, and nostalgia arose within. And I remember driving under the Houston sun when I was 24, listening to that album on my way home from a run in Memorial Park. #Music

When we select an associate of the month, we make a poster about them. On part of the poster, they’re asked to write down what they like most about working at the store. I loved reading this answer ❤️.
It’s my office day, and my focus is way off. I’m getting too caught up in the pointless details of the job, and my mind keeps going on tangents. I accidentally took a video of my face that was more honest than the pic below, but our business numbers were in it so I immediately deleted the post.

#OOTD Old Navy shift dress, new earrings (Panacea?), shoes I’ve had forever, BCB LA purse, bracelets from Chico’s, Kate Spade, and WHBM. I bought the dress for my cruise a few months ago and never wore it.
“You’re disappearing,” another dancer exclaimed this morning. I’ve missed the past 2 practices, so I thought she was scolding me. “You’re losing so much weight,” she explained further. At a hearty 175 lbs, I don’t think of myself as disappearing, but I’ll take the compliment. Before & after:
