"The Lightning Rod of Weirdness." Public historian, bicyclist, noted bon vivant. Taking a break from politics so if I unfollow you that's why.
Today I accomplished a life bucket list item of bicycling the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park in the narrow window of time when the road is open to bicycles but not yet to cars. It was 70 and sunny and OMG the alpine scenery!
There's a certain schadenfreude watching Mike Lee melt down over Hegseth removing Mormonism from the Pentagon list of Christian religions. THIS WAS ALWAYS GOING TO HAPPEN. As soon as the Christian nationalists got a whiff of power they were going to turn on the Jews the Mormons, next the Catholics.
I'm at a campaign kickoff and the candidate is a progressive AND a huge native plant geek and half the crowd is from the local plant geek community and folks keep introducing themselves mentioning their favorite native plants and this is so delightful. Here's his campaign shirt.
Paxton didn't just win, he crushed it. It says dark things about the Republicans that such a crook and a predator is so popular among them.
2/ Before I went to sleep last night, I made a Canvas announcement just in case I missed class. When I got to class 5 minutes late, Baylie already had the computer on and was working the white board for the class assignment. She gets an A! I love my students.
After flight delays and 32 hours awake traveling from #Helsinki to #Spokane yesterday, I slept for 5 hours and was only 5 minutes late to teach my morning class. I am the Iron Man of teaching. #AcademicSky
#Tallinn, Estonia is maybe the most magical place I've ever visited. Can't wait to come back.
I like this analog way of displaying historic photos on a kind of motorized mobile at the #Helsinki City #Museum. #publichistory
My first use of the AI engine now built into Outlook. I've made a terrible error. #AcademicSky
I am not getting this at all. I just came back from 5 days in the San Juan Islands with my 1st gen students on a #publichistory project, they are HUNGRY for real research and intellectual exploration.
I am taking a group of students from #EasternWashingtonUniversity students on a 5-day field trip to the San Juan Islands. Day 1 is the glorious drive across Washington State, the best state. The students are laughing and joking and this is going to be great. #AcademicSky #PublicHistory
The History Club students decorated their office door and I have to say their meme game is pretty strong. #HistorySky #AcademicSky
It is important to fill up your Outlook Calendar to block people who might try and make a morning appointment with you. #AcademicSky
Every year, #Spokane has a running race called Bloomsday. Not everyone is a fan of this year's slogan.
