Checking scrub early this morning in hope of finding some migrants at #LadywalkNR + #WhitacreHeathNR 10+ Willow Warbler,1 Lesser Whitethroat. Highlight though was a Willow tit calling at Hide A last two years a random individual has turned up! #PWC2026 Juv Cuckoo, Yellow wag f/o + 3 Common Sand.

Barn Owl did a slow flyby past A hide #LadywalkNR and was calling over main meadow over an hour last night (New addition for #PWC2026) Ringed plover,Green Sandpiper Redshank and Little grebe flying round all calling. Plus pair of Tawnies #Warksbirds
At Hickling Broad in hope of Swallow-tail, got some distant views of large butterfly disappearing in long undergrowth but no joy. We were visting late afternoon so not prime time but was good for Purple Hairstreaks coming down from Oaks + Norfolk Hawker @savebutterflies.bsky.social #butterflies
Caught up with the Black-winged Kite at 1145 at Sea Palling #Norfolkbirds yesterday with @benjeaton.bsky.social It was distant and spent whole time sitting preening in dead Hawthorn. Pleased to catch up as been waiting till we were out this way to make the trip #Ukbirding

Injured Avocet seems to be improving. 5 Redshank + 2 Juvs Post breeding flock of 38 Lapwing already starting to build up. With a similar number of breeding birds still tending to juveniles. 28 Swift through low south in heavy showers. Cuckoo,Com tern + Water rail #LadywalkNR #Warksbirds

Another brood of 2 Lapwings at #LadywalkNR on the newly created islands. Continuing to be a good year for breeding waders at the reserve #warksbirds Finished May on 133 species for the 3k #PWC2026 adding 5 new ✔️’s for the month. Grey plover + Med Gull the highlights.
Adult Redshank has a distinct call just for alerting young and helped to pick out at least 2 very fresh chicks although distant at #LadywalkNR #Warksbirds today. Privilege to have these breeding each year and worth the work to maintain habitat on patch #PWC2026 Also Water rail with young.
