I thought you said that, in hindsight, you think the war with Israel’s various enemies should have stopped last October.
But again, again, Iran was making progress on its nuclear programs, and the building of missiles was going on. So the fact that we decided to attack Iran could be the right decision.
It could be?
But it would only be right if you achieve your goals. But if you attack and you don’t achieve your goals then maybe the right decision is not to attack. But the No. 1 goal is keeping Iran from having nuclear weapons and missiles and arming their proxies. If you can’t do those things, you should have done it differently or not done it. But if you spend a lot of money and get your citizens killed, you expect to achieve something.

From Economist. Iran said it was reviewing a proposal from America to end their conflict. Reports from Iranian media suggested that many issues were still unresolved, but Donald Trump said “great progress” had been made towards reaching a “final agreement”. Earlier, America and Iran exchanged fire in the Strait of Hormuz, threatening their ceasefire. The United Arab Emirates and South Korea reported strikes on their ships. Mr Trump announced, and then paused, Project Freedom, an operation to guide commercial ships out of the strait. The UAE intercepted missile and drone attacks from Iran, including one on an oil facility.

A matter of urgency
Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, travelled to Beijing for a meeting with Wang Yi, his Chinese counterpart. The official Chinese statement on the meeting called for the restoration of safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz.

Israel struck Beirut for the first time since agreeing to a ceasefire in Lebanon in mid-April. It was targeting a Hizbullah commander; the Iranian-backed militia continues to fire missiles and drones at Israel. The UN said that at least 380 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon since the ceasefire began. Its figures do not break down the casualties into civilian and combatant deaths.

In another lens, you could go all the way back to the progressive era, to Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, where they think Congress is a bunch of dumb-dumbs coming from wherever, saying: What if we did government by experts in the executive branch? And instead of having Congress decide this, we’ll have the smartest people, because there are right and wrong answers. And instead of representative democracy that’s so passé, we will basically have this constitutional revolution and move power from Congress over to the executive branch?
