We don't need no stinkin' glasses

A yellow sheet hanging on a laundry line with the shadow of a tree falling on most of it. In parts of the tree shadows there are scattered bright crescents caused by the solar eclipse.

Worked from home yesterday in part to monitor the cat. She seems to be coping with the heat just fine.

This cat has complaints to the manager about the current angle of the sun.

A tabby cat is sitting near the base of some wooden doors. There is a sunbeam that is projecting entirely on to the doors and not yet on to the carpet. She is looking accusingly towards the camera as if she expects better service in the positioning of her sunbeams.

For the last month or so I have been distracting myself from *waves hands at world* by fixating on old English turf mazes. Heres some embroidery based on the two mizmazes in Hampshire at Breamore and on St Catherine's hill.

A green labyrinth within a darker green circle embroidered on white linen. The path of the labyrinth curves back and forth within the circle in a design based around a cross. The embroidered line blends between darker and lighter shades of green to reach an oval at the center. This design is based on the Breamore Mizmaze in Hampshire.

Today was very cold and grey so I left a hot water bottle in my bed to make a warm spot for the cat and I think she liked it

... Finished! Embroidered literal #ArtAdventCalendar

Red canvas with a white embroidered stem stitch Christmas tree outline divided into 24 patches by curved and wavy embroidered white lines of split stitch. Each patch is filled in in embroidered patterns using a different colour and stitch in each patch. It has been completed daily over the last 24 days.

I've been struggling to work on creative projects for the last few months so I made myself a little embroidery advent calendar to get back into daily sewing, taking some inspiration from @karenjturner.bsky.social. quite happy with how it is going so far...

The picture shows red canvas in a circular embroidery hoop. The shape of a Christmas tree is outlined in white stem stitch with 24 sections marked within the tree in various shapes. 16 sections have been filled in with space filling embroidery stitches in different colours. Eight sections are still empty.

Filling in feathers with scrappy bits of embroidery thread

The feather shapes surrounding a peacock body filled in with varying shades of embroidery in lines of chain stitch. Green, blue and purple feathers are completed and pink and orange feathers are in progress.

if not cat toy, why cat toy shaped?

A tabby and white cat sits halfway up some stairs looking through the rails as if behind bars, as she should be. A garland of silvery thread, pearl beads and paper stars is attached to the railings. It is currently doubled up to keep the ends from being repeatedly unhooked and then chewed on. The cat is unrepentant.

These two quilts will both be on show in the anatomy art showcase at the Anatomical Society Winter meeting at UCLan if anyone would like a closer look and is coming to Preston!

Two miniature quilts are shown. One is about 40 cm square and shows three applique versions of the anterior forearm, one with the skeleton, one with deep muscles and ligaments and one with the superficial muscles. The background is blue, the bones are cream and the muscles are shades of red and pink with greyish white tendons. The smaller quilt is about 20 cm by 12 cm and shows the cerebral arterial circle in red using reverse applique, with the ventral surface of the brain in cream embroidery on a black background and the cranial nerves in bright yellow embroidery.

Spending this pre-Christmas period embroidering some heart- warming quotes from winter classics 📚🧶🪡

I've posted this before but only in the other place, here is a mini mini quilt I made a while ago with some recently added embroidery. #sciart #anatomy

Picture shows a rectangular quilt that is dark grey with a red binding. The shape of the cerebral arterial circle (of Willis) has been exposed using reverse applique to show the background fabric which is shades of red. The shape of the brain has been added in cream and the cranial nerves leaving the brainstem in bright yellow. The intended effect is to show a rough diagram outlined on a chalkboard background, as might be used teaching anatomy.

Took a little while longer than I thought. #embroidery #anatomy

A completed embroidery of the brachial plexus, the network of nerves that supplies the upper limb. Each spinal nerve has been embroidered in a different colour to show the spinal levels contributing to each branch.
