Citizen archaeologist, solutions engineer, electronic musician. I call Philadelphia home.
Coming home from a road trip, we stopped in a Wendy's drive through. I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe, "hold the onions" As we drove off, I opened the box to find the bun had a patty and onions, that's it. Guess they heard "only onions!" but I wanted to get home more than I wanted to return my food.
Between two airports and three itineraries, I was unable to fly home today. Rumor has it that ATC in Philly is turbofucked
Adventures in midwestern public transportation. One dollar to get to downtown Peoria from the airport, because none of the two Lyft drivers want to come out here I guess, and I'm not calling the local taxi.
We put our couch on the curb this morning, "Free Sofa!". An Amazon delivery guy saw it while dropping off Melissa's order, sized it up, and came back later with his wife and an SUV. There's no such thing as "bulk trash day" in the city and I love that.
I was walking through the Milwaukee Art Museum this weekend, saw this and said "This is a painting of @basicchunnel.bsky.social and I am going to send it to him"
For just a moment, the clouds opened up after the storm, and the vibrant blue sky gave light to the reflection in the stormwater basin. Just as I took this picture, clouds cast themselves over the sun, and the colors all went gray again
But my best options have been "Play coop video games during office hours" or "At-home cocktail mixing kit, after hours" and I just can't. Photo contests get some traction, but no one wants Snappy dropship trash. Oh boy, headphones by a dead camera company! A cutting board! A shitty speaker!
A century ago today, the Delaware River Bridge opened to the public. When the bridge was dedicated on July 5, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. Since renamed The Benjamin Franklin Bridge, I've had the good fortune to look out upon that same bridge every morning for nearly a decade.
Somewhere near you, several times a month, a group of 20/30 somethings are singing challenging, beautiful music about pain, love, politics, and the cosmos, to two dozen people with an average age of "retired". Sounds swirling about in a beautiful room, with no amplification. You should go more often
I have the day off because we're going to Colonial Williamsburg to give a presentation this week. I turned off my alarm and was hoping to sleep in, but woke up to a cop ringing my doorbell camera, asking if I had footage of, well, this:
A sweaty evening of intermittent train travel comes to a close in a tiny room on the ground floor of a Chinatown hotel, and though it may take me an hour to dry off after that journey, there's a cart selling meat on a stick just a block away, and it hits just right.
This seems like the appropriate moment to take a selfie in my favorite bootleg NIN shirt
Google News, doing work on behalf of The Man. Anyway, I'm glad "Hide All Stories From This Source" is still an available option. For now.
Last week, as I sat on the plane taking me home, I realized I left my earbuds on the hotel room. I checked their location online. They were no longer in the hotel room. I answered "There's nothing in our lost in found" with a screen shot. "Ohhhhh I SEE. Can I call you back?" I had to call THEM back.
"Some of these examples that are floating around the media that some things have been removed, they haven't been removed." He then says "In the case of Philadelphia, we can't put new signage up" - they didn't have new signs, they just took the signage down, you asshole.
I am struggling for the correct words to convey to you just how hard the new Nine Inch Nails album goes. It's a remix collaboration with Boys Noize, and it's a dance-oriented blend of 'studio' recording and the live Coachella performance from Saturday. The singing is strong, the music is slammin'
This baddie was parked in front of my house last week 😍 I have a Transit Connect Titanium that has been amazing, and still I felt a twinge of van envy
Some people said "use the 2nd and Callowhill green space instead" but AECOM said they'll already be using "every square inch" of available space. The bus parking lot on Callowhill seems like a decent alternative, but the River's Edge RCO has struggled to get any traction changing the use there.
