My favourite spot at the Royal Albert Hall nearly overhanging the stage at the back ('Choir'). What a treat to 'prom' on this trip, and to work on my next project surrounded by the other oddballs who inhabit the Choirs 🤣❤️🧶🎶
Last, off to salute James Kay-Shuttleworth, born James Kay, who became a doctor, took his wife's name of Shuttleworth, and then spent his whole long life establishing the public elementary education system *and* uniform teacher training to support it. Hat tip sir. 🙏
Next, Sir William Crookes (and ?4 family members in the same plot- inscriptions are very worn). Pioneer of cathode rays and discoverer of thallium, we can thank him for everything from sunglasses to TV screens. He had a notorious gullibility to psychic woo though. 😅
Next up Violet Brooke Hunt, born into wealth but a champion for the working class, setting up public reading rooms on her family estate (= early library). Later she championed women into politics. Died only 39. 💔 Love the wee snail 🐌 taking sanctuary on her gravestone.
Next up, John Snow, who famously took the handle off the cholera water pump, thus birthing modern epidemiology. He died aged only 45. His original gravestone was destroyed by enemy action (presumably the Blitz?) in 1941, with the current replica kindly erected by @assocanaes.bsky.social 🙏

We grow kumara (sweet potato) for the leaf, but I've accidentally also got a harvest of absolutely massive tubers this year. 🤗 The big ones are too fibrous to eat so I'll sprout them for next 'spring' (temps are pretty springy already). The rest will turn into chips/mash. 😋 #gardening

A enjoyable project for a bunch of tiny (<2m each) yarn leftovers. There's faux leather, faux fur, recycled plastic bag yarn (comfortingly scratchy for NDers) sequins, buttons, glitter yarn and more- all framed together with sturdy black double cotton.
