Darkwave/post-punk project from Brooklyn with lefty political opinions. Gavin Dunaway’s little getaway.
I have never heard a Democratic politician talk about trans people in sports. I have heard them talk a lot about the other stuff.
ICE shoots a documented immigrant in front of his family, and it’s below the opinions on the NYTimes app homepage the next morning. Apparently this story was more important.
Oh, Ezra, have you just figured out Chris Rufo is a bad-faith racist troll?
Rufo is delusional. “Well, Trump was different!” No, Klein is making great points. Rufo is the epitome of what I’ve seen from Republicans for years (and Klein calls it out) — reach a little bit into the far right dark side and hope it doesn’t take you over. And now Rufo sees the takeover…
Oh man. Seems like Ezra Klein held Chris Rufo’s feet to the fire for a change and showed he’s lost the plot… and delusional about his role in the right wing going overboard. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/30/o...
Sometimes we forget Texas is an internal fascist state. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/06/u...
The right wing is not intelligent. They do not understand human nature better. They are conniving and manipulative. They know how to play on base human needs. Let’s not give them more credit than that.
In the next graf, Whippman admits that last bit “might” be an excuse. It 💯% is. A therapist would never say anything like that. But it stems to part of the “problem”: confused young men who think therapy is weakness rather than something extremely helpful.
Also meant to add on this earlier—I feel a lot more media concern over young (cough, white) men these days more than any other groups.
I was going to argue there’s a whole genre where whiny men talk about how bad women treat them, but emo actually has a lot of self-reflective moments too (e.g., Cursive). The message I get from Carpenter and the like is not “men are trash,” but “don’t be THAT GUY.”
Always weird, insecure morons pushing the “lack of manliness” trope, as if that will somehow fill the gaping holes in their souls.
I’m not going to rub it in. She’s realized her mistake. Try not to get fooled again.
Don’t believe the polls. MAGA is full of regret. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
I was just thinking about this in terms of redistricting in VA. Why do Rs think those seats are just “gone”? If an R candidate said, “Trump doesn’t stand for the things are party cares about,” I’m sure Dems and indies might be interested. But such a candidate can’t get past the fealty to Trump.
