Prior to February, most of our foster cats have come from dire situations in Kuwait. We have a long history with helping the overwhelmed rescuers in Kuwait with their foster cats because there are just about zero good homes in Kuwait. We would never support breeders or anyone who is gaining financially from cats. (You can do some googling to learn about rescuing cats from Kuwait - there's a lot more info out there now than when we started working with them 13 years ago!)

I had just received a message from another rescuer here in PA who asked for help from Journeys to take in a few of these cats that are already here. We would love to help but just don't have the current capacity, which is especially sad because the cats who come from Kuwait are some of the sweetest cats I've ever seen. But they also have tended to have some higher needs when they first arrive because of their past neglect and the Kuwait rescues being very overwhelmed there.

OMG - what a promising review!

I’m only 12 eps in and I’m speechless. I don’t get how the same director, writer and production team as MLC made this. The quality across all aspects is poor. Nothing gripping about the story, and none of the characters are captivating me, even XQS! The only redeeming factor is the action scenes but that’s only limited to Cheng Yi’s scenes which are more or less consistent. Action scenes involving all others are hit and miss. Some are good while others just look like they’re rehearsing choreo, it is kinda ridiculous those takes made the final cut. Argh!"

Excerpt starts in the middle of the section with the part for citing:

Just yesterday I was reading a thing that has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with any new or recent movies.

The story of how the Nanjing Massacre "all but disappeared" (D. Yang 2001, 55) from public view in China only to storm back to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s is a well-known one whose telling has been dominated by the tropes of remembering and forgetting.^3 After the Communist victory in 1949, the narrative of the long Second Sino-Japanese War was edited into an account that told only of the rightfulness of the CCP's mandate, and of the Manichean struggle against Japan's Imperial Army in which the moral strength of Mao and his fighters won out. The victims of Nanjing, however, received no succor from "Communist superheroes" in 1937 and no redress in the early postwar period either (Chen 2009, 30). The Massacre thus became the unsayable part of China's past suffering and weakness, the most gaping lacuna of CCP historiography,^4 missing from school textbooks,^5 unmarked in the memorial landscape.^6 Pragmatically, too, the fledgeling regime was focused more on marshaling its resources for survival than on past affliction: the struggles of the here-and-now were so fierce that "to turn attention to the disasters of a bygone day would seem a luxury" (Link 2002, xiii).

The status of Nanjing as the Kuomingtang (KMT) capital prompted further forgetfulness, since mourning the Nationalist dead scarcely served the propaganda war that the CCP was waging both at home and across the Taiwan Strait and that designated the KMT as the national foe. The dead of Nanjing were, in this sense, the "wrong" victims; to commemorate them would have contravened Communist goals.^7

"Remembering" the Sino-Japanese War also dovetailed with another pressing policy drive: reunification with Taiwan. The war was a crucible of memory in which comradeship with "Taiwanese compatriots" could be forged, as writing the Nationalists back into China's victory narrative reminded rivals across the Strait that they were also brothers-in-arms who had fought the same foe. Last, rising China needed a moral banner for its bid to supersede Japan as the region's next "great nation."
