Rest in peace, physical video games 😣. Sony's announcement yesterday that it will stop releasing games on disc is not just bad news for nostalgic ones. It's a huge loss for consumer rights, preservation and the health of the industry. We all knew this day would come. I didn't expect it so soon.
We hope this is a bug on Prolific, otherwise it will be cheaper to collect behavioural data inside the scanner 🫠

Just running some sanity checks and playing around with an ongoing EEG experiment, but it’s cool to see a potential theta phase effect regarding encoding/retrieval, in line with previous findings (see Kerrén et al. 2018) . Assuming I’m not doing something weird, of course 😅

Spent half the holidays stuck in bed with something close to pneumonia. Upside: ran some Hidden Markov Models on fresh new EEG data, played with a Hopfield network, and sketched ideas for the next grant applications ✅. Downside: I might need new lungs 🫣😂

One of the most interesting findings is a non-linear (U-shaped) relationship between information gain and identification performance. This challenges simplistic intuitions about perceptual learning and provides empirical traction for key ideas in predictive processing theory.
We also used alternative metrics—such as semantic distance and entropy—to capture how information gain reshapes internal representations and enhances subjective identification.
We used brain-inspired neural networks to model visual ventral stream processing. We show (1) that ambiguity arises predominantly from distortions of high-level features, and (2) that resolution after disambiguation relies more on lower-level visual information.
