City of Burbank reports back on yesterday's Metro vs. Burbank (re: NoHo-Pasadena BRT) court appearance: no immediate ruling - judge is expected to rule on Metro's request for injunction next week.
Station Experience update: Metro has fully installed Throne restrooms - 64 Stations! Some additional signage upgrades done at 7th Street station. Praise for TAP to exit at La Cienega D Line Station in Beverly Hills.
Metro's transition to electric bus is astonishingly slow. Staff says a lot of words for very little results. Metro is hitting issues - J Line went electric, then had bus issues - BYD is fixing buses - J Line currently running ~60% electric
Ridership increased in June - especially year-to-year 2026 vs. 2025 comparison. [June 2025 ridership dipped a lot due to the uptick in federal ICE terror] June25 to June26 overall ridership was up +9% - with bus at +6.8%, rail at +21.8% [credit new rail open: LAX, Pomona A Line, D Line]

For what it's worth, this project includes new plastic-post-protected bike lanes in place of what used to be mostly striped-off shoulder lanes that have served as sort of de facto bike lanes.

The city's recommended plan is to remove Wilshire Blvd inside MacArthurPark - and to permanently close one further block of Wilshire west of the park.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but STARTING JULY 1 - TOMORROW - Santa Monica will start issuing actual automated bike lane violation tickets, costing $93. They're currently issuing warning tickets. Don't park in or otherwise block the bike lane!

The February Google Street View 2026 photo of Strathern is telling. So many #LargeAsphaltRepair project show up as large black patches right up against heavily cracked, failed pavement. It's surprising that the workers, City Council, & mayor aren't more pissed off about this shoddy work.
Oddball thing I spotted that helps show how ridiculous L.A. City StreetsLA #largeasphaltrepair is. According to StreetsLA lists online now, city did LARs on Strathern in Canoga Park in July 2025. Then in April 26, the city resurfaced the same parts of Strathern. #largeasphaltrepairfail
