Balcony cherry tomato cornucopia is upon us ! ... Same as every year, but trawling the balcony to pick cherry tomatoes to go with my dinner every evening never gets old ! Nice bonus: the seasonal tomato plant curtain is a welcome additional sun screen.
Why aren't empañadas/calzone more common fast food at home ? Throw whatever is at hand into dough, close, shove in oven, bake & done. Cheap, no brain nor attention required, impossible to fuck up because vapor percolating across the dough keeps it from burning. Easy & delicious !
[Senator Collins:] Well, there are … regulations governing the materials they can be made of [Interviewer:] What materials ? [Senator Collins:] Well, Cardboard’s out [Interviewer:] And ? [Senator Collins:] … No cardboard derivatives
By the way, I just had to track the source of your banner: it is awesome ! "The MiG-21MF “Bunny Fighter,” a brightly-painted ex-Czech Fishbed operated by the D.R. Congo in the ‘90s. A Ukrainian mercenary scored three kills against Angolan jets while flying this thing"
"Western Civilization" as often mentioned by Thiel, Vance, Putin, Musk & al. of course refers to the civilization pictured in Western films, mainly featuring cows – and the boys that tend them. The Western Civilization discourse would make more sense if it more often mentioned the cows explicitly.
By the way, on top of all the citizenship, civil rights and due process, the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution has a Section 3, titled "Disqualification from office for insurrection or rebellion" - and the fact that it targeted Confederates doesn't make it any less fresh !
Tonight, we made Italian pasta with French ratatouille, Dutch jalapeño cheese, and Ugandan fried grasshoppers (special delivery !). It is the kind of dish that solves both hunger and world peace !
#NitrousOxide canister du jour is in #Courbevoie, left on the curbside - along with an innocent toilet seat. The #LaughingGas is the stinky one !
Le Petit #Nanterre is the sort of place where dumped #NitrousOxide canisters are a guaranteed occurrence. I had a chat with local idling youths about #LaughingGas - they ostensibly agree that more prevention is necessary... But who consumes that much ?
An unofficial community collection of free oscillator content prepared for MPC 3.9 and Force 3.9, taking advantage of the new oscillator source feature for keygroups and drum programs. Reported to include the Expert Sleepers Disting oscillators. github.com/daslicht/mpc... #AkaiMPC #AkaiForce.
If the biggest bagholder rube in the world is questioning your vision, you might want to think again.
I haven't had the opportunity to travel to Mali recently, so I'm glad that Mali weather came to me ! Keen observers will have noted that Kayes' vegetation somewhat differs from what inhabitants of France have considered normal so far.
Aesculus hippocastanum (the common street alignment "marronnier d'Inde") near Paris, 22nd June 2026. Days up to 39°C put it under extrême stress. No bright future in France for this iconic species.
UN Resolution 998, air dominance and French self-propelled guns eventually solved the problem. Strangely, later UN missions reverted to lightly-armed postures in most theatres.
More family utility than any of the USA's light trucks, cheaper in every way, enough ground clearance for agricultural tracks (I used it there !) - and no forward blind spot: I can see toddlers almost up to my front bumper. But not "manly" enough ?
Hot enough to melt the glue of the miserable fake paving stones in La Garenne-Colombes. Faux-old is a classic mild anesthetic for NIMBY, and my architectural nemesis !
I should have mentioned the geographic context, given that the temperatures cited could easily be mistaken for the Sahel... This is Paris, France - and the forecast is pretty close to Kayes, Mali.
As much as I enjoy cycling and skating in temperatures that remind me of the Sahel, 14 to 18°C above season normal isn't be good for much else. I'm old enough to remember that above 30°C used to be "heat wave" alarm on major media. It has quickly become normal - but above 40°C sure gets attention.
I never looked up the namesake of that street in Garches, next to the house of my grandmother - a Jew. Now I'm quite disgusted.
Reminds me of Tom Cooper's "Iranian F-14 Tomcat Units in Combat" ... I'm still not sure what is real and what is legend, but I'm a total sucker for Iran–Iraq War air combat stories - and I'm pretty sure a large part of the legendary feats are real.
The friendly neighbourhood rose-ringed parakeets, helpfully contributing to the dismantling of the copper local loop - somewhat in advance of the 2030 deadline. The cute noisy fuckers love to gnaw on the copper pairs cable's plastic exterior insulation.
Joke doesn't work: monastery and art building were the Russian's primary targets.
For ultimate desecration, the White House could have been used as backdrop - like some random Street Fighter II monument. But nooo, they had to squander that opportunity too, using big video screens to make the scene absolutely generic !
