I joined the Ni Moth club this morning in VC20. A UK lifer but have seen abroad before. Website map says first Herts record since 2006, but I know at least one was reported yesterday in the county. Nearly overlooked it, as a Silver Y!!! #teammoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

I've been trapping/luring in Horning VC27 for 7 nights with my new trap! My 20 year+ garden macro list was 258. Macros have been superb, weather has helped but it's windy. 82 species which for this site is good. Highlight Mere Wainscot & Grey Arches. #teammoth

There are lifers, and there are LIFERS! New for my VC20 garden, new for 10k & very few county records - a FESTOON this morning!! Also NFY a very early Jersey Tiger, accompanied by Scarlet Tiger. Rather a lot of moths though with at least 92 species & over 400 moths! It was hard work! #teammoth
I normally hope for a White-letter Hairstreak nectaring early summer evening on my Hemp Agrimony. I wasn't expecting to see a Red-belted Clearwing instead in my VC20 garden! I do have a massive veteran apple tree though! #teammoth
A lot of moths in VC20, but far too many that can only be identified to a group! Another pug this morning, not new for garden, but Obsidentify says it is Yarrow Pug (it's big) - all previous records were confirmed by retention. I would like to avoid this? Any thoughts? #teammoth
Its very disconcerting counting moths with thunder rumbling around, not being 100% confident, a downpour isn't imminent!!Pretty busy in VC20 with several NFY! This was hard to crack, took 7 days. Most VC20 Clearwing moths normally come to my garden lures, Hornet Moth (& Six-belted don't) even though the Poplars are close-by. Just before 9am to the API lure (also attracts the Hornet Moth so vice-versa?) I struck success a Six-belted Clearwing #teammoth 1/2
A relatively busy night in my VC20 garden, with a few more NFY! ID question though @sj84turner.bsky.social maybe. This 'Treble-bar' stood out as very pale so I took a photo of the claspers. My thinking is that it is just a Treble-bar but I thought I better double check? #Teammoth Record shots only!
I invested in a new set up for my riverside VC27 site-a nice compact twin 20w Skinner. Hoping the moths will now go in, not just around which happened with the 15w Heath!!! Lots still around, but lots inside as well including a lifer Silky Wainscot (17th June) #Teammoth @norfolkmoths.bsky.social
My spreadsheet tells me that on 18 June 2023 (VC20 garden), I recorded 7:6 macro & 19 June 2022 8:6 so 25:12 plus 1 micro (Small Magpie NFY) can't be that bad after all? However, my perseverance paid off with my 5th garden record since 2002 of Bordered Straw!!! #teammoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social
Cool, clear conditions similar to the night before in my VC20 garden but 71:36 instead of yesterday's 50:19 with 5 NFY including the missing hawk - Lime Hawk-moth so was well pleased. Difficult moth to photo with a macro lens as is Barred Straw!!! Just about succeeded? #teammoth
It was the extreme to the ridiculous in my VC20 garden; yesterday I was counting 209:71 species (in the rain) & then this morning 50:19. Stars yesterday were Reddish Light Arches & Bordered White 3rd & 8th garden record, this morning an Eyed Hawk-moth, 1st garden record since 2023! #teammoth
Horning sunset with boats moored up at the Sailing Club ahead of tomorrow's 65th #ThreeRiversRace. 128 boats entered so it could be interesting....plus an earlier photo taken at the club!
Much calmer in my VC20 garden-83:34 but 68:26 were macros! Didn't take the camera, as I wasn't expecting anything special, so turned over an egg box & there was a Birch Mocha, first VC20/21 record since 2022! A rather tatty specimen but not complaining, its hard to get new garden macros #teammoth
Several days of moth overload in VC20. Last night 172:60 in total with potentially 4 NFG micros. Could anyone confirm this is ?Monopis crocicapitella 10mm single wing Potential NFG. Also NFG were Cydia nigricana & Nemophora degeerella. Also over the last 7 days 3 Small Mottled Willow! #teammoth
Lifer day! 3 Large Red-belted Clearwing to 6 yr old Cul lure. Put lure out at a Norfolk site at 2pm. 2.02pm 1st arrived followed by 2 more. Not even sunny but 17c. Record shots on phone. @norfolkmoths.bsky.social #teammoth

Can anyone help identify this presumed caterpillar found in their garden by a friend's niece who lives in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. It looks Lycaenidae like but species are limited in Herts? Adding #teammoth in case a moth recorder knows what it is! TIA
Found these in my grandson's garden. Apparently they are not set up correctly! He knows every station in the Welsh Valleys as well!!!
I'm going through my Welsh records, & I realise there is a potential 2nd lifer. A poor Obsidentify image of a pug which came up 100% Angle-barred? By the time I got the camera it had flown. I need confirmation please that 'Obs' was correct? Recorded middle of nowhere south of Lampeter SN73 #teammoth
