Club America still held well-attended meetings, but the energy had "kind of died down," Koehler told me. When the chapter first started, he had been so enthusiastic that he'd hoped to become an officer. Not anymore. He felt the same admiration for Kirk, but he'd lost interest in Turning Point. "I don't see them on my social-media feed, any big campus events," he said. "It's less about free speech and more supporting Trump." And young people were losing interest in Trump,
as he saw it. No one wanted more "forever wars."

Duffy offered more pointed observations. "With high schoolers, it's more about what they see on their social media," he said. Kirk had disappeared from their feeds, and Erika Kirk had gone viral for the wrong reasons—taking the stage at her husband's memorial service amid pyrotechnics and attempting her own campus tour, undermining her image as a Christian trad wife whose priorities were her family and her home. With the MAGA alliance strained and conspiracy theories emerging about Kirk's death, it wasn't clear who, if anyone, possessed the gravitas to hold Turning Point together. "Erika Kirk made it into a joke," Duffy said. "It's not a good look. People don't want to be associated with it." (In a text message, Kolvet wrote, "Erika Kirk has displayed incredible courage and strength, stepping into an unimaginable tragedy while shepherding Turning Point through the largest, most explosive growth period in its history." He added that the organization is "100% behind Erika Kirk.")

I HAVE NO ONE TO TALK TO ABOUT THIS

To anyone other than Cusk, it might seem cruel to dash M's dreams of normality and selfhood. But a darker, more fascinating portrait of celebrity emerges, in which M is both bewildered perpetrator and victim. Yes, she lives in a cold, palatial house that is "like a big doll's house, with her as a doll inside of it." She attends meetings in gloriously expensive, ruthlessly designed rooms, takes vacations in equally luxurious faux- farmhouses, and goes to a spa that is "a stern and celestial oasis in the sky." Everywhere doors are magically opened for her, conveniences are arranged, and she is served by people with "specialized roles," there "to do M's bidding." Cusk's penchant for satire of this nature - especially the embedded satire of the movie star with pretensions to reading - could not possibly have pleased the real-life Portman, if the
behind-the-scenes speculation is true.

UA flight - 'turn bluetooth off or we're
turning around'
Currently on a flight Newark to Palma. About an hour into the flight the flight attendant announces on the loud speaker that all passengers must turn off bluetooth immediately or we'll have to turn the plane around to Newark. They said it was an order from Chicago headquarters. They repeated the instruction multiple times, eventually giving a final '1 minute warning'. They most recently said there are still 2 active bluetooth devices and they are in communication with Chicago to understand next steps.
Anyone ever heard of this or any clue why? *EDIT*: wifi is back, we have turned around and there's little clarity on whats going on. flight attendants either don't know or won't say. the one announcement where they informed us we are turning around indicated an individual has done something with bluetooth that is threatening to the safety of the flight. lots of comments like 'this little joke is ruining it for everyone' (odd). i think they said 10 agents will be awaiting us when we land to figure out whose device. no more info.
