We at the #LogCabinMuseum, thoroughly enjoyed the 75th festivities! ➕The Opening Ceremony recognising #CSaanFire Deputy Chief Rob Nelson’s 50years of service ➕Blessing by Tsawout Elder, Mavis Underwood ➕Visitors we connected with ➕and lots more What a wonderful day! 😃 #CSaan #community #history
Today is the #CentralSaanich 75th Anniversary. We know what a journey it's been! #LogCabinMuseum has seen the changes, and played a part in shaping the #community it is today. Stop by our tent for photos, and talk to someone who watched planning for #CSaan, unfold around her family’s kitchen table!
Hazy skies from #ForestFires are not a recent occurrence. Here’s a view looking out over the ocean, with the far islands shrouded in #wildfire smoke. Year unknown. #SaanichPeninsula #ThrowBackThursday
“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream”.🍨 On #MysteryMonday last year, we featured an interesting machine. Our favourite theory? It's a hand-crank ice cream maker! Today is #NationalIceCreamDay, though we won’t be making any #IceCream at the #LogCabinMuseum in this beauty. 😁
Got plans for today? We’re open 1-4 - so come explore! We’ve got #HistoricPlacesDays, highlighting #CommunicationThroughPlaceAndTime, as well as a new Children’s display and touch table! Plus lots more to explore, of #SaanichPeninsulaHistory. #LogCabinMuseum #yyjkids #yyjfamilies
Joyful news from @cheknews.ca: @gurdeep.ca is returning to #yyj! We had the pleasure of meeting #Canada's Joy Ambassador in years past. #MaybeOneDay he’ll come dance with us in front of our community Museum! In fact, we're going to manifest it by imagining it!😁 #BreatheInAndBreatheOut
Come visit #LogCabinMuseum, Saturdays 1-4pm, to explore #HistoricPlacesDays! Through oral traditions, crafts, handwritten letters, telegraphs, telephones, & now digital media, places have always been at the heart of how we communicate. Learn how locals have used #CommunicationThroughPlaceAndTime.
Did you know that #museums make you smarter? It was a subject of debate on the radio, between Isabel Zaw-Tun and Wassim El-Mounzer! Here at the #LogCabinMuseum, we certainly think it’s true.😊 Listen: bit.ly/4wI1CkM #MuseumsMakeYouSmarter #MuseumMonday
The #LogCabinMuseum is closed today, but please join us this coming Saturday, to explore and learn! We’ve got #LocalHistory, and #Canadian history. Happy #CanadaDay!
We are hosting a private event today. We are also watching & cheering on #Canada in #SUICAN. We are multi-taskers! We are #TeamCanada! #WeAreCanada #LogCabinMuseum #WorldCup
Recently we hosted a tour for the #RoyalOakWomensInstitute, reminiscing on their work & our shared history. They presented us with a very generous donation of $5000! This will make a significant impact on our work in preserving local history!!💚 #TogetherTuesday #LogCabinMuseum #WomensInstitutes
Please take note that our #Archives are on #SummerHolidays now. However, we are still taking archival and research questions via e-mail; and with advance notice it may be possible to make other arrangements. #LogCabinMuseumAndArchives
Happy #FathersDay to all our fathers, and to the stand-ins when ours aren’t here any longer. We wish you the best for a happy day! #LogCabinMuseum #HappyFathersDay

Bikes have played an important role in transportation in the past - for personal mobility and to deliver goods. Nowadays, we know bicycles contribute to personal health and a cleaner environment. #WorldBicycleDay #CyclingInfrastructure
Pick-up games are sometimes the best, aren’t they? When all you need are a few friends, a ball, a bat, & the local park.⚾ We enjoyed watching this group of youngsters, just having fun playing ball. Looking for future players, #HarbourCats? Keep your eyes on this local talent.🤩 #LoveOfTheGame #CSaan
We’re celebrating #WorldMilkDay, an annual recognition of dairy's global contribution to #FoodSecurity, #sustainability, & nutrition. Our new exhibit: #KeepCalmAndDairyOn, features local & #SaanichPeninsula dairies of the past. #QualityCanadianMilk #LogCabinMuseum #BCag

#VictoriaDay is one of our oldest holidays in #Canada, started in 1845! An official holiday in 1901, to honour Queen Victoria's birthday. #MotherOfConfederation #DYK of 1896's #PointElliceBridge disaster? An overloaded streetcar enroute to the holiday celebrations, caused the bridge to collapse.
Looking for something to do this #holidayweekend? The #LogCabinMuseum offers a fun and exploratory reprieve from these rain showers. We’re open 1-4pm today - bring your curiosity and come learn #history! Current exhibitis/displays include telephones, tea, pharmacies, planes, and more!
Happy #MothersDay to our mothers, and the others that fill in sometimes! Best wishes for a fabulous day! #HappyMothersDay #LogCabinMuseum
Are you tea-first or milk-first person? We don’t judge either way, but #DYK that in history, adding milk to a cup of hot tea was likely to crack a cup of low quality, while tea added to milk would prevent the cracking. Thankfully, today's cups don't tend to crack! #LogCabinMuseum 1-4pm today.
May's quite a month for exploring history - we've got 2 exhibits opening today: >Given we sort of revolve around tea, of course we’ve got a #tea exhibit for #InternationalTeaDay! >Come learn about the McIlmoyle family & their connection to the #LogCabinMuseum! Saturdays 1-4pm. Admission by donation.
As this month closes, we send a shout-out to both of our local public library systems: @vilibrary.bsky.social and #gvpl. Belated Happy #NationalLibraryWeek, and thank you for your support and promotion of not only our LogCabinMuseum events, but events across the #community! #LoveYourLibrary
Today is #NationalTelephoneDay, in honour of Alexander Graham Bell, who invented the #telephone, among other things. Come learn about him, and see #telephones from days gone by - #LogCabinMuseum until 4pm!
