Richard J. Daley Branch enthusiast and general issue Chicago person. I throw yoyos, homebrew and get angry about bike lanes. He/him.
This big boy is the saddest tree loss in the nearby hood. I should have put something on it for scale. It's by the racist sandwich shop, Kathy De's.
As if summoned by this post, my wife offered to pick up 35th Street Red Hots on her way home today.
Not sure what's in the air in Bridgeport but right now but we had our best turn out ever today. We probably doubled the previous best. Incredible ride with an incredible group! 🤩 Anyway, here's the war wagon.
I am told this is weird but I really like walking my dog in the rain. It's so peaceful.
This is the most elaborate Little Free Library I've seen. It is kind of incredible they leave such a thing out in the weather.
I've been in so many arguments about it but this is where it happened.
I think they've been actively doing work on Trinity in Bridgeport. Or, the church shaped building that used to hold Trinity.
This was great! It means a lot to see folks coming in support from all over the city. My favorite part was bullying this poor cameraman to get his tripod out of the bike lane.
More from Nicole Lee's weekly newsletter, again not mentioning infrastructure improvements on Halsted. Anyone familiar with "traffic safety missions" in Chicago? Is this a specific thing? I will admit to being cynical here but I don't think cops are gonna solve this problem.
Early Father's Day celebration because I am just that special. Dan dan men from Min's Noodle House on Halsted and a new yo-yo.
Nicole Lee's response thus far has been to put up these signs telling you not to door cyclists. If you don't think that's good enough, let her know.
I have learned something I was not meant to know: the Vienna Beef factory has tallow delivered directly via rail car.
Been reading this book, Street Signs Chicago, I got from Tangible a few weeks ago. Pretty cool reflection on the city, focused very frequently on Pilsen. It's on archive.org if you are into such things. archive.org/details/stre...
