This is my favourite Halifax reporter exchange of the year thus far. I laughed like Jeremy Cullhane doing his Tucker Carlson impression (aka like a maniac).
Now playing "Two cents, three eggs and a postcard". It's 101 Ranchboys in the HOUSE.
I needed some super carb support after two tough appointments, so I did a roulette on food places on Bedford Highway - ended up at Golden Chicken Grill. Ordered this bad boy. An Egyptian crepe. It had peppers, cheese, fries and grilled chicken inside w a yummy sauce. Omg So. Good.
I've been thinking about messaging a lot. This podcast was super helpful - and made me feel hopeful.
If anyone on Halisky wants a good show next week I have friends doing stand up who are actually funny (featuring middle age women bra jokes and also gay men dating jokes) and then the improv troop uses the stand up to create some sketches. It's a perfect night out - a nice mix!
Well, other than poisoning the minds of all the parents in my family, today they have an opinion column by a transphobe (something all my kid's grandparents are going to read).
Saw the documentary film The Pink Pill on Friday. It was So Good. It's a very tight and engaging narrative that will make you laugh, cry and shriek at your TV b/c it's infuriating. The best thing tho imo is it makes you want to keep fighting for women's/marginalized community health. #filmsky
She's a beauty! And it was right to wait. To me a couple of hours to get back to it, but I wouldn't have made the yoga class doing this first time through.
Doing a little more reading on this excellent book. Also, I'm trying to be more organized around networking, so making a list of people I've met this last year, titles, dates, any next steps. In a week, I get a whole week off to write, looking forward to it!
Okay final result is a babka that didn't rise so it's more like chocolate bread pudding which my husband tells me is just fine! I find myself eager to try it again. I made notes.
Had a slight (ok bigger) panic when chilled dough was still too sticky to roll out. A trip to reddit gf baking gave me some work arounds...she ain't pretty folks, but it looks approximate. Now proofing...does this really work? Seems like kitchen magic.
But it looks and smells like bread dough! Did I mention I've never made bread? And also that there are 5 more steps!?!
The only way my ADHD brain is going to stay focused on all these details is focusing on one stage at a time. Chocolate filling stage complete.
I just posted this separately, but it's my dog watching Rex from Hudson & Rex.
At long last (due to the mail strike), my Solstice present I ordered from @spellfire.bsky.social arrived. Two new handmade altar cloths, a set of Solstice cards, and a magic hare. The altar cloths are so beautiful that they make this little corner shine.
Post you from a different era of your life. Backstage at the boy's school for a high school play circa 1988 or 89
