Lothal Valley Farm
@lothalvalleyfarm
A small farm located near Olympia, Washington, raising pigs, goats, chickens, and ducks using regenerative/sustainable practices. We also grow fruit/vegetables without synthetic pesticides/fertilizers. Not a friend to MAGA/Nazis. lothalvalleyfarm.com
Finished my first batch of freeze dried eggs today, made from raw beaten eggs. These were unsellable pullet eggs. Rather than letting them spoil or feeding them to animals I was able to pack them up in a shelf stable manner to use in winter when the hens stop laying.
Found my spirit animal. It's a goat eating dinner in bed. 10/10
Mine aren't as big as that boy but they're still a good size. 115+lbs for the lady and 130+lbs for my male. It's awful when they lie down blocking doors.
I made this little educational blurb on my other socials and it took mere minutes before someone said, "that doesn't look like real pork". 🤣 If all you've ever seen or had is the garbage CAFO stuff in an American grocery store, I can forgive your ignorance. Not everything is AI folks.
I made my first pressed (soft) cheese yesterday using milk from my goat Magda. I coated it in a spicy Brushetta spice mix I often dump in EVOO and dip bread in. It's basically a pressed Ricotta. Someday I hope to be able to get a dairy license so I can sell milk and cheese and butter.
Anatolian Shepherds having big feelings. Everything about these dogs is big, especially their feelings. PS, if you try to shout over them when they do this to talk to another person they'll just go louder.
@nmdeptofmemes.bsky.social Figured you might be experienced with this one. Me testing the new pig pen. Certified 100% zesty.
Casper, our breeding boar often waits for me like this during feeding time, his tongue sticking out in anticipation.
Ours is very cupped on the leaves and thick like a succulent.
What in the dystopian hell! How about we spend less on the military complex and tax corporations and the billionaires more. Or apparently we just tell everyone we throw under the bus to eat cake.
I picked up this wonderful Boer buckling from another farm last Friday. I'm still working on earning Halsin's trust but have made good progress. Yesterday he lurked close to me while being "ignored" in his pen. He let me feed him some snacks through the fence and rubbed his head against my fingers.
Please brighten your Monday with this little baby goat taking her first jumpies.
Americans watching their government openly commit war crimes right now.
The world is hot garbage right now, but at least these piglets give me a reason to get out of bed every day.
They do make a white erm, fluid if you play with their "udder" enough lol. I'm so glad my buck is a chill guy.
Mr. Cluck Norris and Nugget checking out their new doghouse to keep their food dry. They frequently knock it over and then the food gets wet and has to be thrown away so it doesn't grow mold. Mold can be harmless or deadly depending on the type, best not to risk it.
I raise my own pigs for meat after finding out how bad they treat them in CAFOs. They are pasture pigs that live in 1/4 acre pens and rotate to new grazing as often as we can. Moms actually live with and raise their babies. Slaughter is done on site by a professional.
Woke up to a rainbow ending in my field, with the other end on my adjoining neighbor's lot. Then the sun hit behind the clouds and hasn't come back out.
