Over it. She/her Death, death to the idf
Burned the most calories in a single day I’ve ever recorded so I’m treating myself to a week of corn soup and shrimp salad.
I got up super early this morning to beat the heat and got another 6.2 miles checked off my IAT journey and completed the Sturgeon Bay segment which includes the Eastern terminus. I hiked that part of the segment back on Mother’s Day with my family.
Earned my first IAT patch by completing the Lakeshore Chapter Lakeshore Wanderer. I had to hike segments in this chapter’s territory many of which went along the shores of Lake Michigan.
Oh I saw the big boulder! Then the next day I saw 3 black bear cubs on the trail ahead of me. They were so freaking cute I wish I had gotten a picture but I didn’t know where mama was so I scared them off right away.
I saw so many scarlet tanagers! They’re so gorgeous! (Photo not mine cuz I suck at wildlife photography)
On the Wi/mn border enjoying a French 75. My first hike stayed dry and I even had the sun pop out.
Did the IAT Kettlebowl Segment yesterday. Got a shuttle so I was able to do this 10.2 mile hike all in one go. This also puts me at over 10% of the Ice Age Trail complete!
Played hooky on Thursday and it was so worth it. Knocked out Bohn Lake segment and a good start on the Greenwood segment. IAT
After finishing up the Hartman Creek Segment yesterday I officially crossed the 100 mile mark for the IAT. I only have to do this 11.5ish more times! I began my hiking journey last year around Halloween and I’ve hiked over 200 miles. Incredibly grateful I have a body that has allowed me to do this.
IAT Slinger and Pike Lake Segments. A couple weeks ago I did these two segments out and back for another 5.3 miles. I’m nearing 100. A lot of elevation gain in the PL Segment. Including an observation tower at the top of Powder Hill. PL is part of the Kettle Moraine State Forest.
IAT Point Beach Segment i finally finished this 10 mile segment. I split it into two hikes since I had to do out and backs. Im not in shape enough to do 20 miles in a day. It was a gorgeous morning on Lake Michigan.
Coming back from a beautiful tropical vacation to this seems like a giant fuckyou from some higher power.
Greetings from a non shithole country! You can’t make me come back to the us.
I did half of the Point Beach segment of the IAT as an out and back. I need this segment to complete my first chapter patch but they’re closing 2 miles of trail for forest management until June starting next week. So I changed my plans. I can’t wait to come back when everything is alive.
He looks like every bit of a loser ass punk he is. Loving that he looks like he was crying in his mugshot.
The way some people are reacting about belichik not getting hof is absolutely bananas. The nfl subreddits are giving me a laugh today.
It was a little cold on my hike yesterday. Knocked off another 5.65 miles of IAT connecting route.
People magazine updated their headline to remove “armed” from in front of man. Afraid of being sued?
3 pairs of leggings for the win! Proof I got my ass out there today. Checked off more connecting route of the IAT. This chunk is 27 miles so I’m breaking it up into parts. Got 5.4 miles of it done today for a total of 10.9 miles.
In the 9.5 weeks since I’ve started hiking I’ve hiked 89 miles, in two different states, in forests, the desert, farmland, towns and cities. Of the 89, 41 of those miles went towards my goal of hiking the complete Ice Age Trail. Might not sound like a lot but I’m 3.5% closer to finishing.
All in all I marked another 2.6 miles off the Ice Age trail bringing my percentage of completion to 3%! I’m hoping for one more hike before the end of the year the week after Xmas. This winter I’ll probably focus on trail communities & the Ahnapee state trail portions as it’s crushed packed gravel.
Algoma reminded me of a the small town in central Wisconsin I grew up in. The lakeshore was windy AF and Lake Michigan seemed particularly angry today. Really made me think of the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald and how terrifying it must have been.
