Three dogs are my limit. I bumped it up to 4, but everything is temporary, then I came across this one. Dressed him up a bit once we got home.

Plant milkweed, a monarch's only food. She will find it, lay her eggs. (tiny black bumps). They will hatch and their sole food source milkweed will be right in front of them. #MonarchButterfly
Bumblebees love wild bergamot. How much do they love it? I'll often find them sleeping under the flower for the night. Why waste energy when you can spend the night right at your favorite food source?

Barely light out. This first bird of the morning begins its chirp at 4:39 am. It is a robin. Actual sunrise is 5:27. Eventually it moves to a cacophony of morning wake up. Twenty years ago it was a cookie cutter area. Diversity of native trees, sedges, shrubs, plant has made it a wildlife dream.

After a window strike...a yellow-rumped warble, knocked unconscious. Wash hands. line small box with towel. Partially cover box with another towel. Put in shade. Check within and hour. Try uncovering a bit more. This little one flew up to a tree after a few hours. Don't put in direct sun. Recovered
Today I've witnessed at least 14 different breeds of #Warblers. Some migrating to Minnesota, and will continue on to Canada. Coincidentally, (probably not) the non-biting midges have hatched from the pond. Please don't haul out insecticides at first sight of these valuable insects/food.
Minnesota this time a year, there is much talk of Ice Out. Bets made well in advance. There are Ice Out parties. Bets of $2 dollar bills or $200. Today, I call the official ice out on Gull. In the search for I got the other "Ice Out", yes get out and stay out. Here it is. 90% and navigable by boat
