It’s maritime day in my town today. Had the opportunity to look into some older minesweepers and patrol boats.
This weekend, I did some sidequesting and found this record player combination. Finally a replacement for my broken one.

In the Netherlands, it’s a tradition for the birthday person to treat others, so I thought I’d get my friends some official BBQ birthday merchandise to celebrate!

I had such a great time today! I threw a BBQ to celebrate my birthday with my friends. We had tons of food, slushies, and wine 🍷. I was so surprised by some amazing wines that my friends gifted me, and this adorable artwork of Quiet that @sambers.bsky.social made for me 🥰.

Last weekend, I got myself an early birthday gift. A new touring e-bike ( Qwic inter daily) as my previous bike was 9 years old by now. This should make sidequesting easier!
Today I found something cool. hr ms Bonaire is currently in the dry dock in my city, she is the oldest Dutch navy vessel still in existence, as she was laid to water in 1877 in Rotterdam. This ship had a few voyages to the Dutch Caribbean against pirates from Venezuela and Colombia.

On top of the bunker there was a telephone tower that broadcasted these signals, which you can see in the second picture What is nice to point out that only two of these bunkers still exist along the Atlantic Wall to this day, and this is the only intact example of its kind in the Netherlands.
Allied aircraft movements were tracked and anti-aircraft operations were coordinated on these screens. Information of allied flying formations were captured from the radarposts along the coasts and this information was send to coastal AA batteries
The next bunker I’ve visited is the: FL250 Flakgruppenkommandostand (Flakgruko) Locally it’s know as the “Crown Bunker” as it looks like a crown, this bunker is quite rare and served as the headquarters of German air defense in Den Helder during WWII.
Its operating room allowed a doctor and four nurses to stabilize up to 20 casualties at a time before they were transported inland. its remains one of the few surviving medical bunkers of the Atlantic Wall.
Today it’s bunker day in the Netherlands A day you can visit and enter all bunkers For my first stop: Sani hospitaalbunker 638 in Den helder built by the Kriegsmarine in 1942–43, this is a rare medical bunker in Den Helder. It served as an emergency hospital for wounded soldiers during WWII.
