Also came across a second hand book sale at midnight in Cardiff Gate services, which was great for Catherine Cookson fans but not so great for anyone else.
Spent yesterday in Cardiff to see Jimmy Eat World on the Bleed American 25th anniversary tour at the castle. Might genuinely be one of the best gigs I've ever been to.
An insight into life with Freddie: I have been up for one hour and he has, thus far, demanded that I brush him three times.
A year ago today we got the keys to our house, so we are celebrating in the appropriate and time-honoured way.
Freddie is insisting that he must still be my work buddy, despite it being so much hotter upstairs in my study than downstairs 🥵 he has, at least, compromised by giving up his usual spot on my desk and sought out a cooler bit of carpet instead.
So do you get the full £400 off if you pretend not to know each other, or..?
We occasionally have reason to drive past this shop, and I am forever wild with curiosity about what makes their dentures so unique.
The mega-cheap, tiny cardboard scratcher? Bed. The big, fancy scratcher bed? Pillow.
Finally got around to snapping a couple of photos of my "finished" study. I still want to grow the cosiness over time with more stuff on the walls and a lot more trinkets, but I am very happy with version 1!
It's @antonycull.bsky.social day! Please go and wish them the happiest birthday! (Freddie already gave his gift a little early last night: a live mouse which proved to be fun for all the family.)
Bodley Head Career Novels For Girls. I am obsessed. Personally I will be keeping an eye out for Rennie Goes Riding (how progressive for the 1950s) and Sue Takes Up Physiotherapy.
Welcomed home by someone wanting, again, to steal my chips. (No, I don't know why he wants the chips - especially when there is fish *right there* - either.)
I took basically no photos in Brighton except for several flea market horrors and Saint Paul Sundays but I think that's a sign of a good trip.
I realise that it's generally considered not ideal to have things growing between your paving slabs, but I can't help but feel that our patio looks rather glorious.
I have had to let this knob in through the front door twice so far this evening 🙃 Tomorrow we will be cutting a cat-size hole in the side gate.
Beginning the process of redecorating my study now that it's no longer Freddie's base. I am grateful that there is only one wall that was wallpapered (this cannot be said for the rest of the house 🫠) Not bad for 90 minutes of (mostly Antony's) work!
