We found that a racially-affirming community (a key element of campuswide servingness) was critical for Latin* Ss' equitable access to classroom participation. Building such a community, thus, was a "mechanism of instructional servingness." The figure presents a visual summary of our findings. (3/5)
Applying an adaptation of @ginaanngarcia.bsky.social's servingness model as our analytical lens (see figure), we examined journaling and interview data for Latin* Ss' perceptions of math instructional practices that limited or promoted support for their racial & intersectional identities. (2/5)

Hi, Sara! I can’t think of other physical manipulatives. In case it’s also helpful, my methods course explores student use of the Division Worksheet to visualize base-10 grouping in multidigit division. The worksheet is helpful because it preserves rich place-value knowledge like the base-10 blocks.
Nazemi & I used my framework, STEM Education as a White Cisheteropatriarchal Space (WCHPS), as the lens for reviewing 61 articles & proceeding papers. WCHPS elucidated the extent to which ideological, institutional, and relational dimensions of gender research were advanced intersectionally. (3/26)
