- If Koivunen plays up to his ceiling potential as a top-six winger, $4 million AAV will look like one of the NHL's most bargain contracts.
- If Koivunen doesn't quite play up to his ceiling potential but becomes an NHL regular, he will pretty much meet the value of his $4 million
AAV.
- If Koivunen is a bust, the Penguins will have several options, including a sub-26 buyout window, burying the contract, or trading him somewhere else (given the low enough AAV of the contract).

You're entitled to your opinion. I deal with what I believe is the truth. And what I believe is the truth is that the way the American players who won the gold medal felt in their Canadian markets post-Olympics is a factor here.
I think some of those guys, not all of them, but some of them felt a bit hated and it might have influenced their decisions. Again, you may think that's their problem, you may think that I shouldn't even be bringing that up, but it's a fact and it's part of this process.
