Trans, mother and housespouse, early 40s. If you followed me because of a meme or I had something nice to say about Peter S. Beagle, I apologize with tongue in cheek; you'll find me dubious company. Mostly here for the musicians, artists and sex workers.
I would probably commit crimes to get this in higher definition. How, how do you make your characters look so goddamn amazing. I mean, there's so much more than looks to love but SERIOUSLY. I wanna be just like her I swear and that's such a bad idea.
That's reasonable. Unfortunately, I can't think of an example of a character saying something that's normal to them but sounds utterly horrific and/or bizarre to those around them. If only there was an example of that somewhere in fiction. Someone saying "lol just like my childhood" to great shock.
I think about Berthold Brecht's "To Those Who Follow in Our Wake" a lot lately. And, as someone in the replies was surely also paraphrasing, Oliveira's words in the wake of the Pulse massacre. (I bet Bsky will be as uncooperative as ever with these images.)
(Repost from Mastodon: ) If I had a nickel for every time a Sam Neill character fumbled a baddie named Claire, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
Piss and whine, you fake socialist. Deliberately trying to make room for the dismantling of the rights of women by attacking the rights of a few of them? What next, relitigating segregation? You know who your allies are in this fight. You know you're standing with fascists. You like it that way.
XD Thank you. I needed this tonight. I have found the dopamine. I will now go to bed.
@spice-aisle.bsky.social I managed to get way behind on Heartstrings, just caught up. heartstringscomic.com/comics/579/#... This hit really hard. I used to have a seemingly endless well of anger, and little feels worse now than frightening someone else. Poor Ro. Rough day.
Because of Peter S. Beagle's "The Ballad Of Eleanor Roosevelt", when I hear someone with a degree of fame say they're nobody's saint, I always think of Brecht. "Unhappy is the land that needs heroes." Great joke on your second sponsor's part, btw.
*hugs?* That always feels so insufficient. How does one show they care over the internet? And what use is it? It's better than not knowing people care, I guess.
[ID: El Goonish Shive panel. Grace and Justin talk to each other in the card shop while a customer looks on. Grace says: That was a joke. Nobody can tell when I'm joking. I should buy a small sign that says "just kidding." Justin laughs a little at that, and she replies, No I'm serious. /end ID]
I have now caught up with Heartstrings and wait patiently for the next page. Mostly patiently. It would be difficult to explain why I made this silly edit but I assure you, everyone in my gaming group fuckin' lost it.
