Madame Hardy. Was mme_hardy on Twitter. I love gardening, sewing, and reading. Mostly reposts of other people's jokes and historical stuff. She/her.
The great Finnish artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela designed an automobile ad. I'm not quite sure what's being sold here.
The SF Chronicle has an article on playgrounds in San Francisco, and somebody decided to color-grade all the pictures as if they had been taken in Kodachrome. (Photographer not credited.)
From a Guardian article on the memification of Charlie Kirk. Honey, I heard 9/11 jokes *within the same week*.
Headline that desperately needed a comma, or at least a second "by":
Oh, my God, this bit! "We recognize that there are many worthy people who somehow are associated with you." Not "we recognize the good that you, as a group, are doing." Just "there are some cool people who sadly are in your orbit."
This morning the SF Chronicle had an article about the SF Archiocese, without warning, closing a Catholic school for special-needs children, weeks before school was to start. This afternoon the Chron had this headline. Guess we know where the money went.
I was reading about a robocleaner that cleans window outsides. I have a second-floor picture window too wide to reach, the review was enthusiastic, and I was all set to buy. Then I got to the privacy bit, and they lost a sale. No. This is a one-time purchase, not an invitation to further contact.
Architect's promo drawing of a new community center in SF's Chinatown, which apparently will be used by ghosts?
I will be damned. The required text for the Book of Lamentations is, in fact, from the 1917 (thus out of copyright) Jewish Publication Society Tanakh. The Beatitudes are from the King James translation. Also required: Margaret Thatcher's eulogy for Reagan. No, really.
Restorers removed major overpainting work and verified a painting as a Rembrandt. www.theguardian.com/artanddesign...
I just got a captcha that I am incapable of doing. My vision has deteriorated with age, but I can still read just fine.
Here's Vance's latest, Communion, on his conversion. I don't understand why he converted at all. Like, if you can't buy into any of the things he lists, Protestantism may be right for you!
Woke up to this WaPo headline. Not even an editorial, but a news article.
My garden is always rumpled. The rose bush spills over the fence from our neighbor's yard.
Renee's Garden "Perfume Delight" sweet pea mix, selected for fragrance and heat tolerance. I am not one of the world's great flower arrangers or photographers; I wanted to share anyway. 🌱
Your cat wants the YEEOW Chi-CAT-a Catnip Peeled Banana Cat Toy . YEEOW makes the most pungent toys, and the peeled banana has peels that crinkle when the cat bites them. It's also big enough to bite and kick simultaneously.
Some couples have "our song"; we have "our rose", 'Mme. Isaac Pereire'. Bred by Armand Garcon as ‘Le Bienheureux de la Salle’ in 1844, but the nurseryman who bought rights renamed it and tried to take credit. 🌱 More about Mme. Pereire herself: storytellergarden.co.uk/mme-isaac-pe...
