I don't know why this movie gets flak, it's a very solid Gundam story that's quite well executed for its compact runtime. War and politics, freedom and identity, abandonment and shame, motherhood and growing up, cool robots and explosions, I don't know what else Gundam needs
Mobile Suit Gundam F91 (Yoshiyuki Tomino, 1991): is it because of your shame that you need that mask?
Ninja Scroll (Yoshiaki Kawajiri, 1993): An entertaining action movie. I liked this more than the previous Kawajiri things I've seen. Still very shittily sexist way though
It's just crazy to actually get to see some of these pieces in person, see the texture of these paintings up close
It's easy to remember the weird silly moments as ZZ-only things but they're actually uncommonly spread out all around Zeta? I guess it's easy to forget when they don't fit the mental image of Zeta as perennial doom and gloom
Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia 1 Sometimes you watch something that feels made just for you
Table tennis is a freaking blast! I can fly! I shine like a star! I move like lightning! Racing impulses! My memory lives forever! My reactions, my reflexes are faster than the speed of sound, than the speed of light!
It's also kind of a shock to hear a voice other than Shuichi Ikeda's coming out of Char's mouth, but I think Yuki Shin did a pretty good job
I get what they were going for to an extent but it's still absolutely hilarious that these are characters in the same show
hahahahahahahahahaha Hideaki Anno you madman I love you This is even better knowing the interview where Tsurumaki talks about how much Anno loves the first episode of Gundam the OST and sound effects, chef's kiss
As to the story, I have absolutely no idea how this I Can Friday By Day yuri pop moe alternate history UC Gundam is gonna work out but I'm here for it
First episode was stunning, as expected of a Tsurumaki SB he knows how to make striking compositions. The aesthetic fits together very well for how much it (surely deliberately?) deviates from what you'd expect from Gundam I just can't bring myself to like the CG mecha but oh well
All alone on Christmas Eve A freezing Silent Night Where should I go from here? Under this sky where I can't see anything
Mobile Suit Gundam is one of finest stories I've ever seen animated, and Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's manga improves on every single aspect of it. This is the best version of this legendary tale and one of the most perfect manga I've ever had the pleasure of reading
