Aside from everything else, the use of a Modern Metal Aesthetic as an invocation of D&D's past always rubs me the wrong way. We know what Old D&D looked like. It was goofy and painterly and pretty but it was never THIS.

I refreshed the page while I was looking for an image for the article and suddenly the readhead was GONE, replaced by two completely different art pieces.

The header image for the Backerkit, depicting the iconic Doomsayer, with her long eyelash makeup, pseudo Dolly Parton hair, and chainmail bra over a very revealing dress. A picture of the man himself reminds us that this was designed by Professor DM.

The iconic Deathbringer, a massive armor-plated Space Marine looking motherfucker standing atop a mountain. Splayed next to his foot for the viewer's "enjoyment" is a blonde babe wearing next to nothing, while a volcano symbolically erupts in the background. I wish I'd had this image yesterday when I was talking about the game's sexism.

So I was working on my second Deathbringer essay today, when I noticed something really interesting had happened to the Backerkit. So, previously the header image and the "Beyond Shadowdark" section had featured this lady, who is just very clearly Red Sonja.
