I make comics, a Viking era one called the Hogback Saga and Malky Dungeon about a Scottish occult detective
a wee bit of art I drew for the Govan Stones for this summer, as part of a cool your bones at the Stones promo
some art I made inspired by Bárðar saga Snæfellsáss of Bard retreating from a human existence to become a god of Snowfell
as a birthday treat i will allow myself to indulge in exactly one expensive academic book but the choosing is extremely painful
Looks good! But If you ever want to do a reprint with this as the cover let me know
Bird report: there had been a wee fella making noises like a car alarm rave and I finally managed to find the culprit
Was thinking of making an illustration inspired by the bound Kirkby Stephen figure, was curious about if the "horns" could be a reference to Utgard-Loki's condition as described in Gesta Danorum
In the latest Malky Dungeon Malcolm against the mighty spirit of the Hogboy has summoned another being from Orkney folklore, the Mither of the Sea
my man is looking super tired from getting food for his fledglings, glad I've been able to give him a wee bit o cheese
the world might be going through some heavy shit but little dude season continues ... was pleased to see a big group of ducklings for the first time this year
Bird report: not sure what little dude type this is but there's lots of fledglings going about in the woods at the moment
@anndra.bsky.social in case you might be interested, as part of the Govan book festival there's a talk about Glasgow's Gaelic placenames later in the month
Was sorry to hear about John Blanche, as a wean seeing his Warhammer 40k art in all its tremendous strangeness and glory was a massive inspiration creatively
was trying to make a wee sketch of this Vendel era art for my patreon and thought I'll have the beastie clawing at the fella to make it look more dramatic but it started looking way more erotic than I intended ...
I'm really curious Scottish medieval bluesky what online sources are people using now? I do genuinely find it shocking the loss of Canmore, that there is nothing to replace it?
this comes highly recommended, as someone that own two editions of it already ...
