Dang, this year's Graphic Novels In Libraries issue of Booklist really fired on all cylinders. A round of applause to the writers, editors, designers, and librarians who pulled that off.
Them: "Some online librarians make being a librarian their whole personality, it's so annoying" Me: "Haha yeah I know what you mean." Them: "You still haven't paid for your lunch, what are you waiting for?" Me: "Yes, well, you see..."
I ended up getting The Trial (photo for proof). I recommended House, but they'd already seen it so I followed up with Tampopo, which they owned but hadn't watched (a common Criterion misdemeanor). Swap complete!
Was reading manga on the fourth of July when I came across this bit of serendipity.
An aftermath we can all be proud of, and a full circle moment for several of us who first interacted with Battledecks way back when. #ALAAC26
Lois Lowry, introduced (correctly) as an "absolute legend," gets an instant standing ovation upon walking out. One great anecdote after another. The "massive cement stairs" of her childhood library... were only ten steps. #ALAAC26
Rachel Maddow's book recommendation during the #ALAAC26 President's Program: graphic novel "We Hereby Refuse" written by Frank Abe & Tamiko Nimura, art by Ross Ishikawa & Matt Sasaki
#ALAAC26 Pro Tip: treat yourself to some goodies from Do-Rite Donuts. No matter how the conference turns out, you can carry that joy forever.
Hard to get spoiled by Criterion sales when the library directly advertises its own collection for checkout so well: www.richlandlibrary.com/catalog?q=Cr...
Willing to bet it's something (even a glitch) to do with your library's subscription tier. It's in English in my system. Are we talking volume 1?
Big ol' group photo with author, scholar, and champion of children's lit Leonard Marcus (he led a two-day symposium, lots of food for thought)
Was in very good company yesterday evening during UNCG's Information, Library, and Research Sciences commencement, from the students to the faculty. Honored to be invited to speak to such a bright, celebratory crowd.
The big dog attitude has been updated, if not supplanted, with new confessions of low self-esteem and dependence on technological intermediation.
Was going to send my account into private mode, forgot that doesn't exist here, may as well chuck this into existence instead
I have been informed the episode was actually entertaining due to minimal Beast presence. Here is a colleague's bingo result:
Tonight is the Survivor / MrBeast crossover episode, so I made a bingo card. Lemme know how y'all do. Randomizer here: mfbc.us/m/nrby65t
This isn't a recap, it's an indictment... ...and I'm GUILTY AS CHARGED 🏍️🤖
How it feels to engage with a car dealership with research and a plan in place and maybe, actually come out ahead by the end
A number of teens have compared me to The Good Doctor and I'll take it
Call The Name of the Night by Tama Mitsuboshi, neatly ended at five volumes, good to the last page. #BookSky
