I grew up in the Caribbean, went to college in NY and have a BS, I worked as a deck officer and circumnavigated the world. Raised 2 kids and worked in school libraries. Widowed and retired in Napa Valley. Living with son and two rescues, Smudge and Rascal.
Busy, busy morning. Started at 5:00 stomping back and forth across Mom to get her up. Ate breakfast then zoomied with bro. Finally went back to bed for nap.
For what it’s worth, I worked in a high school library and spent way, way more than the 22 game hours shelving books. As I progressed and earned more “buffs”, I went faster and was more efficient. It really tickled my librarian brain to complete the quest. Fun and bloodless.
Rascal curled up and purring like a diesel engine. Is there a reason he doesn't want me to check my balances?
Kick Starter Kick-in-the-ass Jump Starter Jolt from the Blue Mother's Little Helper Vietnamese coffee by any other name
I had all the intentions of getting up and changing the sheets, but then this...
Meet Rascal and Smudge. They joined us from the local shelter. Rascal is true to his name, and Smudge has a patch of white on his nose. They are both friendly and blessedly quiet. I love them already.
Meet my new kitties. All gray female and gray and white male. Need time to peacefully coexist. No names yet. Suggestions welcome. Male is very needy and cuddly. Doesn't like it when I pay attention to the female. I love them already.
This bush was here when we moved in 36 years ago and never fails to explode in yellow this time of year.
Whiskers Wednesday. This is Buddy (nee Luna). I'm too slow, or he's too fast for a good pic.
Things I don't like about this cat: 1. Playtime at 4 am. 2. Constant noisy catsplaining. 3. Bruises on my legs from him standing on them. 4. Won't trust my son which makes my son feel bad. Things I like about him: 1. No pain or injuries from claws or teeth. 2. Nose bumps. 3. Leans.
Perfect halftime food. My son made nachos add some pickled red cabbage and Coronitas.
Update on the two cats. The black female somehow slipped out and disappeared on day 3. No sign of her since. This is the male, all 18 lbs of him. It took a week before he came out from under the bed when someone was near. He comes out for me now, but won't for my son. 1/2
My sweetie Miss Kitty left us during the night. She was only with us 2.5 years after she moved in with us.
Cardamom Braid have no Scandinavian in my genetics but this sounded so good. I've made it many times, mainly around Christmas. I can't wait to have it with my coffee in the morning.
My kids work on Christmas day so we had dinner tonight. Ambitious duck a l'orange with potatoes au gratin. For dessert we had a chocolate souffle. Best we ever had (no basis for comparison.
I am continuing to pare down stuff that has to go back in my room and closet and with regret brought all the books I was saving for any possible grandkids to the FOL. I could not lose this book from 1990. Beautiful story of two lonely souls connecting..
Miss Kitty is sooooo happy that mom's remodel is done and the bed is back and all those men and power tools are gone (even though they shared some turkey with her).
