Both of these processes seem to get enhanced during the acute and post-acute effects, but learning from reward receipt is disproportionately enhanced during acute effects, whereas learning from reward omission is more enhanced post-acutely. 6/12
This is interesting to me because in rollerblading, I tend to see more left vs. right spinners, including myself (see clip below). Left spinners will even do tricks/grinds with their non-dominant foot/feet positioning to avoid spinning to the right, something I rarely see with right spinners.

The same thing was found in an fMRI study w/a perceptual task & Shannon entropy-like metric. Yet this paper made an erroneous interpretation of this simple 2-way interaction, referring to the INCREASE UNDER PLACEBO as "grounding." Cool that it replicates, but...6/10
Here's what the data actually show. Tasks don't reduce entropy under psychedelics but rather tasks increase entropy under placebo & if anything, there's a numerical increase under psychedelics. This was an MEG study using passive listening/watching and LZc for entropy but...5/10
Then the fx shouldn't be so fragile to be disrupted by presenting stimuli or having people do tasks. EBH proponents will state that this is bc stimuli/tasks pull people away from the psychedelic experience ("grounding"), which would produce a graph that looks like this but...4/10

The increases in between-network coupling were also far less stark than past work, including unreliable fx between different high-level networks. Instead, there was some selective evidence for increases between high-level and sensory networks. 6/15
Brain areas that normally sync up to form networks are syncing less, & separate brain networks are now syncing more. But that’s not what was found here. The Bayesian analysis found within-network fx were rather selective, many being unreliable/dependent on analytic methods. 4/15

Not sure how I keep getting older while my PhD advisor stays the same age.
I learned 2 things today: 1) 55 yrs before Liechti's study (doi.org/10.1093/ijnp...), LSD trips were cut short at the 4-hr mark w/chlorpromazine, pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC.... 2) Despite being a 1st gen antipsychotic, chlorpromazine blocks 5-HT2A (hence disrupting LSD's effects).
And it’s crazy cuz depending on the light, it’s actually quite purple. Had to do a lil psychedelic nod.
