I thought this was a face only cartoon dogs could make. Lucy loves/hates the leaf blower.
Today should have been my dad's 70th birthday. Having a bourbon. So cheers, Dad. Miss you when it's sunny and we're BBQing. Miss you when we listen to Johnny Cash. Miss you when something breaks and I just need my dad. Miss you every single minute of every single day. Prost.
When we adopted our dog, we tried to make sure she wasn't food aggressive, but our efforts backfired and now she can't eat unless you're sitting near her, assuring her she's a very good, very pretty girl the entire time. Just positive affirmations until she's done eating. She IS a very good girl.
I ordered a pizza from Jet's. A car pulled up, sat in front of the house, then left. It came back 10 minutes later, and the guy dropped my pizza on the front porch, knocked, and SPRINTED away to his car, got in, and peeled out. Probably because I ordered a bottle of ranch and instead got this:
Mental health reminder. Everything is absolutely terrible, but please take a break from doom scrolling and go for a walk, pet a dog, or read a book. Drink some water and eat something. We gotta make it through.
If you think I am going to let National Dog Day go by without posting this Good Girl, you're a fool. Mk
Lost an argument with a dog. Short walk, just to work out her demons. Otherwise, there will be no peace.
Trying to explain to Lucy that she needs to rest because her ankle is all swollen, something that is clearly bothering me way more than it bothers her silly butt. Lucy demands walkies. (Just twisted it running in the woods yesterday, don't @ me telling me it's cancer).
I picked my dog up from the groomer today, who told me, "she was a very good girl, just very... Um... In tune with her emotions. Very vocal." Which is a nice way of saying my dog is extremely dramatic and grunts and talks throughout the whole appointment.
Publicly I may look like a classy lady, but actually I'm using the inside of my pockets to dry my hands after washing when there's no paper towels.
If you have trouble motivating to get your 10,000 steps, may I recommend a lab/pit mix? She'll stand in your lap and knock your phone out of your hand until you go. Annoying, but effective.
The first warm, sunny day (50°F) in the Midwest means buying the new bike you promised yourself when you got cancer and starting the riding season a little early.
Lucy is one of those dogs that needs to be included in everything I do. In this case, she's including herself in my rowing by shoving herself under my leg and absolutely ending my workout. This time could clearly be better spent cuddling Lucy. Don't know how many calories it burns, though.
Vacation in Mexico looks a little different post melanoma. Long sleeve shirts, big glasses, and layers and layers of sunscreen. But at least I get to rock this cool hat from Short's Brewing. #melanoma #shortsbrewing
I never knew any of these folks, but all crew across the globe are family. There are some parts of this job that only other crew can understand. Today is a somber day for all of us. Every lesson in aviation is written in blood. Let's learn from this tragedy and never repeat it. #UnitedByWings
They're here to fix our cable. They pulled in and obviously Lucy has to be put away while they're here (so she doesn't try to lick their ears right off). So I asked if she wanted to cuddle and she sprints upstairs and into the bed. Please don't ask her to guard the house, she's built for snugs
Being a flight attendant is still the weirdest surprise of my life. I really thought academia would have been my passion, but it turns out it's enough just to make money and have the privilege to travel the world. I don't say it enough, but I'm so lucky and glad to have ended up where I did.
Everything is terrible, except my dog who is extremely snug as a bug. Stay warm, friends.
