I’m sure the Golden Gate Bridge looked more…golden, the last time I was here?
How many people would be confused that using an iPhone 16e triggers an email about an iPhone 17,5? (And don’t get me started on the abomination that is 08.45pm)
Which do you prefer? The first one is was taken using Project Indigo from Adobe; then ZeroCam; then the native iPhone camera.
Another one for the collection of “just because it doesn’t have a red squiggly line underneath it, that doesn’t mean the word is correct” errors. (Does no-one proof-read these before uploading them?)
Yes the Guardian’s website has a global audience; yes it’s a story about the US economy but even so. The word “gotten” is still like nails down a blackboard to me. (Also - does anyone under 30 understand “nails down a blackboard” if their classrooms didn’t have them? What’s the modern version?)
The death of the last MP to have fought in WWII might have been the main person featured on Last Word; this week, he’ll probably feature fifth or sixth.
Very sad news - he was a highly knowledgeable correspondent, about Italy and the Vatican equally. (Brief Lives on Radio Four might need an hour next week, given the multitude of high profile deaths there have been recently)
These might look like made-up names for places in the UK but they are all genuine…
The fact that iOS 27 still does not let me play videos in the native photos app at more than 1x is astounding. It’s even more inexplicable when you realise that a video sent in iMessage has that option. I’m no developer, but how hard would it be to port that feature across?
Yes the heatwave is coming to an end in London but I can’t believe I am the only person who thinks that the temperatures next week will STILL be too high…? 21°c is enough, thanks very much.
Big test for AI noise cancellation software and whether it should be used: will the fact Starmer’s resignation speech was delivered yo the unwanted soundtrack of “Ode to Joy” mean AI tools will be used to remove it?
Setting up a child Apple ID for my daughter, branching off my Apple ID, has had unintended consequences.
Trying to work out whether the audio on this video sounds really poor because a) although he’s wearing a wireless microphone, it’s not working properly or b) it is working fine but being one of those cheap & cheerful mics, that’s simply the audio quality you get out of it. What do you think?
Genuinely wondering if anyone under 40 thinking of travelling to Dubai will take this headline to mean that there’s new guidance out about NOT travelling to Dubai rather than what it actually means, that the guidance about not travelling to Dubai has been changed to “yes, but be careful”
Opened Wikipedia. Got this. Closed Wikipedia. Why does everything need to be gamified? (The lack of an option to say “no, never” - indicating I will get this shown to me every so often - is pretty hostile too)
The inconsistency here 😬 It should be either: “Scotland have…in their first” or “Scotland has…in its first” - and not what is in this headline?
Probably not a new observation but the “extend” option in iOS 27 could be renamed “invent” or “best guess”. The first photo was what I took; the second is a much wider shot of the same room; the third is what “extend gave me - a totally invented chair and lamp. Is this worthy of feedback to Apple?
Bit ridiculous that an app which has a date picker that lets me scroll back to 1 AD and forward to 10000 AD can’t cope when I select the latter as the year of my birth.
I apologise to any Italians following me, and indeed to all of Italy per se.
Apple has introduced new system apps with most major iOS updates. Here’s how useful they are to me: Home 0/10 Files 8/10 Measure 6/10 Shortcuts 9/10 Find My 9/10 Translate 4/10 Freeform 0/10 Journal 0/10 Passwords 9/10 Image Playground 0/10 Games 0/10 Preview 2/10 What would your ratings be?
Not sure which is more frustrating: trying to teach my children to juggle using the method set out on the box of juggling balls; or the fact that two grammatical errors were printed on the box of juggling balls.
Even though it lacks a data SIM card and isn’t connected to Wi-Fi, Find My is still showing the location of my iPhone which I left on a cruise ship 😬
