This is one of the last videos before the big reveal. This is the stage where we put eyelids on over the eyes. After this we start putting it all together and I don’t want to show it all because then there’s no surprise.

So once the eyes are primed then we get to paint them. We’re getting to the pointy end of the project now. It’s all coming together.

A new angle‽ in case you ever wondered what I look like from above. This is layer one of me applying primer to the eyes, I won’t bore you with all three layers but this gives you a good idea of the process. Is that a piece of wood with screws in it to mount my prints to, yes, it is.

I don’t have video of me modelling these but I I model all of my own stuff for puppets in nomad sculpt, the eyes are something I modelled ages ago and I love them for this type of puppet, it’s a great base that I can build a lot of character with, this is the time lapse of the print for the eyes 👀

Pinning and sewing in same session who even is she? Finally figure out how to sew the mouth in with the machine, I’m in my gym clothes because I had an hour to kill before class and was like “I can either warm up or do puppet work”

Dropping two videos on the same day because it’s just the same thing on a different puppet but with a different view. If you’re quick you get a sneak preview of what it looks like inside out once it’s sewed together and this is the first hint of who they become. I love this stage.

Okay so you don’t get to see me pin the bodies but I do pin them and then I sewed them, I used to hand sew them but I finally figure out how to sew fur. Special guests: @lukeacl.com cooking dinner and my puppy keeping me company as I sew.

Next step: sewing hands. I normally leave this until the end because I used to think it was hard, glad I had so many to do because I figured out how to sew fingers for the first time on this project (after turning them inside out they’re a little too small so I adjusted the pattern for future)

My tripod went flat halfway through so you’re only getting a teensy bit but it’s just the pinning stage so you’re not missing much. If you’re like me you think pinning is optional and no one needs it, I was wrong, you really do need to pin stuff even if it’s tedious, and it’s not that hard to do.

Sure he was guilty of some crimes and he had a crack force of child soldiers but you know what? Xavier knew how to serve cunt and he’s not given enough credit for it.

Stage two is cutting hands out, normally I leave this till well and truly after the bodies are done but I thought this time I’ll do all the cutting steps at the same time, then all the pinning and then all the sewing. Hands are much more finicky than bodies.

Started one of my biggest projects to date, four puppets at the same time. Why four? Because it’s too many to keep and it means I’ll be incentivised to get them rehomed 👀 This is the first time I’ve filmed parts of the process, so you can see what’s involved in the process 😬

My favourite thing to do is when I fail at a piece of art is to go and do a watercolour, because it feels like there aren’t as many rules with watercolours. You never get in trouble for going out of the lines. Anyway this was my recovery piece this week.

I don’t know if I’ll ever be happy with this one, I loved the concept but I think I’m not quite where I want to be with execution, but I’m all about transparency and sharing my failures as well as my successes and this one is somewhere in between.

Happy Pride fair day! 🏳️‍🌈 The nephew had such a great time, this was one of the few moments he wasn’t dancing, and it was only because he wanted to be lifted to see the drag show better.

I have three nephews under five who are all obsessed with eevee and I wonder if this is because Pokemon pushes eevee and pikachu so much as the mascots of the franchise. It feels like fewer people are as obsessed with the starters as they were the OG3.

Introducing Professor Chumble He does actually have a bowtie but it fell off well before we recorded this and he didnt seem to notice (such a scatterbrain). He’s really concerned about his weird accent but I told him y’all were cool and wouldn’t bring attention to it.
