Pepper is gone. He took a sudden turn overnight. He was a feral we fostered for almost 3 years. We fought like hell to get him adoptable. He did so well. But we had to let him go. Medication 4x daily wasn't enough. The first photo I saw of him, and the last couple we ever took.

Pepper had multiple seizures yesterday and was rushed to the vet at 11pm. They almost discharged him as he was not "critical" before he had another episode and the rescue we foster him thru approved hospitalization. He will be staying until a neurologist can see him on Friday. We got home at 445am.

What does the Amygdala do?

*Marin Miller is a writer and voice actor who has been working in entertainment since 2006. A vocal technique specialist with classical operatic training, Marin has spent decades perfecting control of their instrument before publicly transitioning to a non-binary identity shortly after beginning a professional relationship with writing. Since then, they have fiercely fought to represent the voices of non-binary people, as their perspective weaves artistry with brutal honesty that cannot be replicated. They serve as a board member on QueerVox, where they have authored/taught gender-affirming speech therapy alongside trans SLPs.

Born to two generations of prison guards (one of whom served on Alcatraz for a number of years), Marin is no stranger to navigating a manufactured fear of the world around them after listening to tales about the unknown Boogeyman around every corner. But their pieces tonight are about navigating the fear of intimacy–the fear of an unknown future, fear of judgment, fear of someone taking themselves from you, and the paralyzing terror of trying to know yourself.*
