5 hour train from Ottawa to Toronto: ❌ nap 25 minute train to Agincourt GO: ✅ nap
Arrive at Union 35mins late, naturally. Exit out a stairwell direct to the York Concourse (from platform 20) for our Go transfer. 10 mins later, GO announces our platform is 21, and we follow labyrinthine signage to the *VIA departures* area, head up... and... it's the same platform. Hi, VIA train.
Seriously? We had to have a 5 minute stop at a siding 1km away from our Kingston station stop??
Technically we have a tiny sliver of window. So I can see how we are waiting yet again at the Richmond siding for another train. Mercifully this time it was only ~5 minutes. bsky.app/profile/mark...

Speed limits on virtually all 400-series highways in Ontario are going up to 110km/h (all except in city centres) Now that limits almost vaguely reflect the design speed, how about speed enforcement?
This route adds maybe 40km of distance? Which any self-respecting HSR will cover in 10 minutes or less. If it adds the next-most major node on the corridor, then it is worth it. That said, an exurban HSR stop at Kingston that doesn't connect to local VIA service is a bit of a mixed bag.
