This, from @dangreenjourno.bsky.social at @labourlist.bsky.social, absolutely nails the feeling among Labour activists about the Starmer government (its a reference to McSweeney's BBC interview).
An unexpected pylon lurking at the turn of a narrow woodland path, Hookland-in-Elmet.
This is what we got in Wakefield. I'm pretty sure that this wasn't how we voted, though Reform might have still had overall control. Also, the practice of holding "all-out" local elections at intervals destroys any continuity of experience and breaks community connections.

It could be the regular Tuesday climbdown? But this time, it should be followed by the Wednesday impeachment.

Excellent piece. This image from 6 July 2024 (by Simon Dawson) felt hugely reassuring precisely because we expected calm competence from Starmer, in contrast to his Tory predecessors. It's hard to acknowledge that this confidence was misplaced.
With apologies to whomever created this. Nous en avons assez des experts.
Today I was reminded that, just 20 years after the end of the Second World War, 2 crewed spacecraft rendezvoused in low earth orbit. That was 60 years ago. Time is definitely not linear.
