They are selling Italian brain rot themed ice cream in China now. It’s over
Sometimes you add content to a game and sometimes you just make everything run better. This week's demo update is in the latter department. Game feels much more juicy thanks to smoother animations, better loading and caching, and chunkier UI elements.
There are some good observations in this blog post. I don't use agentic coding myself so I don't know enough to judge but this critique seems very on point.
Am I overly cautious or is this a normal ratio between internal and external builds? I'll push 0.4.66 live on Monday if our testers don't find any red flags over the weekend.
Whenever people are angry at evil “shareholders” dictating business decisions I’d like to remind them that they are most likely talking about themselves (through pensions & insurances).
Wait what is this dark magic? VS Code doesn't want me to have it fall through?!?
It's very funny to me that steamcmd.sh uses my user interface language for some parts of the command line output and when I test the German loca it's suddenly in German. Can't wait to test the Chinese loca.
Sometimes you have to lean into the roguelite elements. Roguelitemaxxing, one could say.
New kind of spam that made it to my Inbox and I have no clue what the purpose of this nonsense is but I'm always happy to learn about Spanish scuba diving pioneers.
To all of you angry about UE6 going down the MCP path. It has been available for Godot for months and there are at least 6 different plugins on the asset store. Of course, open source means that it's not the Godot Foundation pushing for this, just some people smelling bacon.
I love to see how connected the world of the past already was. Card games can be traced in how they travelled around the globe, transforming into new games here and there (and then). We only know the inventors of a few recent ones. Before that, we can see trade routes transported culture.
Sometimes I have to remind myself of the places I've seen. If you can, you should venture out, too, and explore the world.
I'm at this stage of game development with a prototype. It's one of the many best stages. What's your favourite numbers-go-up formula that is between Fibonacci and quadratic?
Thanks for hosting #TurnBasedThursday, @firesquid.games! We're making Sparrow Warfare, a card-based boss-rush game about freeing all the birds from the shackles of the evil storyteller. Check out the demo on Steam!
Isn't it nice to live in a country that shares one of the dominant plug types with just 3 other places (two of them being islands with tiny populations)...
We've updated our demo for Deckbuilder Fest so now's an even better time to give Sparrow Warfare a spin than a few days ago. store.steampowered.com/app/3473440/...
Hey there, thanks for hosting #TurnBasedThursday. Mahjong-inspired bird-deckbuilder Sparrow Warfare just got 17 new wild tiles. If you ever thought deckbuilders are a bit slow in their buildup you should try out ours because it escalates very, very quickly. store.steampowered.com/app/3473440/...
The tiniest bit of tuning sometimes makes a huge difference. Like making the shiny edges on the side of the tiles a tiny bit wider to give it a more physical appearance. Video games are full of tiny details like that.
Preview for those who don't have Insta (like me .. in a way .. oh I have it I just never go there)
New patch for Sparrow Warfare is coming up and our testers already have access to a build with damage preview (see bottom right corner), a brushed up intro sequence, a fancier boss demise animation, and a run history to ponder your former glory. Also now featuring -20 bugs more.
Working on a tutorial for our third playable character and it's always an exciting struggle to compress German enough to fit into the available space. Forces me to go quite poetic. Good for the writing, actually, I think...
