Mae West’s son, LongMire (my daughter adopted them as adults so they came with their fab names) is watching over his recovering and much smaller mama (LongMire is living up to his name and is very long). It’s lovely to have a mother cat live with her child and this photo explains why.

My wildflower garden is perfect for an inept gardener like me - just throw down a bunch of seeds down and the whole summer becomes a kaleidoscope of constantly changing flowers and, of course, bees, butterflies and birds.

A very kind man met me in the hospital parking lot (about an hour from my home) with a note he was going to leave me telling me my tire was a mess. Luckily it’s a run flat tire so I drove home. What a nice guy to notice and take the time. He said he didn’t want to see me in the news.

This may only be earth shattering for moi but I’m on my way to a backyard lunch and I finally (!!) found a pair of boat shoes that feel like heaven and, paired with linen pants with pockets, I cannot imagine wanting anything more (except lunch).
This is rooted in the Buddhist tradition of giving alms to monks and the poor. My late father gifted me a very old monk’s alms bowl - from Sri Lanka I think. This is how they collected food given to them in a large container with a bowl and plate for eating. So lovely and such a lovely tradition.

3/ Woke up realizing that the tiny ducklings might not have found their mother so, I checked the underbrush behind the pool. All clear. The ducklings could have stayed trapped in the lap-pool and, exhausted, drowned. Other animals can over the summer so, the gizmo is going to stay in the pool.
